Question

With every viewer I have tried I can't get it to go from startup to loggin... They start just fine, but after an hour or so still no loggin....There are no error messages, the hang up happens from the very begining, and I'm on a DSL.... This has been going on for over a year, I have tried everything from checking my firewall to making sure I have at least the minimum requirements to run the viewers and still get nothing but a blank box on my screen....

Hi Lloth,

I would be helpful to have more information about your inability to log in. Do you see any error messages? At exactly what point in the login process do things hang up? When did this start happening? What kind of network connection do you have? Stuff like that. You can provide that information by editing your question via "Options" over there on the right.

Until then, I'm going to guess you've got some kind of connection problem and throw you my default response for that...

Good luck!

When you ask a tech question include information about your computer and viewer. If the viewer will at least show the login screen, get the info from the viewer's Help-About... and paste that into your post with your question. Help->About... provides all the version numbers we need.  To add your info to an existing question use OPTIONS->EDIT. It’s in the upper right of your post.

It also helps to know if you are using a laptop or a desktop and a wired or wireless connection.

Without that information all we can do is guess. That means you have to try all our bad guesses and eliminate them one by one. This is easier for all of us, if you give us good information to start with.

----------------

Most login problems are directly attributable to connection problems. Having a good internet connection does not mean you have a good connection to the SL servers.
