You can also use ADD if that is available. However, there are issues with SL at the moment -

This has happened to me a few times.  It can be a problem with SL itself, in which case the only thing to do is log out and then try again in a couple of hours.

Or it could be a problem with your internet connection, your inventory, or something you're wearing has gotten corrupted.

I usually find that a simple re-log will fix the problem, but you could also try some or all of the things suggested at the links below.
