remove group title

for some reason there are group titles now appearing obove my avatar.  How do i get rid of these?  There is no edit option on my viewer.

Hi Lamiko,

Group titles are assigned by the group's owners. You're seeing a title because the moment you join a group, that group becomes active and you probably just joined a new group. To activate another group, right-click your avatar and select "Groups". Then activate another group, or no group at all. There is also an option, I think on the first page of preferences to disable the display of group tags. But that only disableds them in your viewer, everyone else will still see your currently activated group tag.

To add to Madelaine's excellent answer...

There are many times when you will WANT a particular group active.  Some stores require you to be wearing their group tag to get discounts on things.  If you rent land and are a member of a land group, you may need to wear that group's tag in order to rez objects in your home.

The visible group tag provides you immediate feedback to see which group you currently have set as "active".
