How to make a wall separate the room and the door into it

May I make whole wall and then cut the rectangle opening for a door? Or I should make a wall from three rectangle peaces around the door? I don't know if I cut the opening in the wall

Best to use 3 as the hole is a percentage of the whole, 

ADDED: Sorry that not very clear. The 4 sided hole will be the same shape as the main prim, you can not turn the hole 90 degrees and it starts at the center of the prim. You can not offset it.

Most of the time it makes more sense to build a wall as if you were playing with Legos.  Build it up a prim at a time, framing windows and doors as you go.  Work with standard dimensions so that you can minimize the total number of prims you need -- so  set all windows at the same height, for example  As Steph says, using a prim with a square hole punched in it is very limiting because the hole is always bang in the middle of it and you have to turn the prim's Z axis horizontal.
