You still can, but you do have to be sure that you have a cash balance in your PayPal account that is at least as large as the amount that you need for making payments to Linden Lab.  Linden Lab's accounting system expects to make a cash transfer from PayPal immediately.  If you don't have cash in the account, or a credit card for backup, the transfer fails.
