There are several possibilities:

1. Join a  group of merchant in your area (or maybe merchants with similar products -- hair, mesh building components, animations, textures ...) and sponsor a special event.  It could be a hunt or a discount weekend, or a musical event to attract potential customers to the sim.

2.  Start a group for your customers.  Maybe offer a promotional bonus if a customer brings a friend who buys something.

3. Buy advertizing space on a billboard on your sim or in a place where there is a lot of traffic.

4.  Offer a freebie version of your favorite product to someplace like the Free Dove, which will make it available to newbies.

5.  Use your Marketplace store as an advertizement for your in-world business.  Many people (like me) prefer to shop in world, but use Marketplace as a catalog to search for likely merchants first.

6.  Look here for good ideas about how to package and preesent your products for maximum effect. >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-market-your-products/ta-p/700181

Ultimately, your products are your best advertizement.  If you sell good quality products for a fair price, your customers will tell their friends.  Business usually starts slowly, but patience and quality will help you grow.
