Can you sell things with a Student version of Autodesk Maya?

I have a student version of Maya and would like to sell things. I'm only going for virtual currency, not looking to turn it into a real life business. Can I do this or are there any laws against it?

The fact that you have a free version of Autodesk Maya should be irrespective of how you utilize any content that you create with it, including selling your mesh creations in Second Life.   Of course the only people that can legally answer your question is Autodesk.

SL's "virtual currency" CAN be used to create a "real life business", because you can sell $L in exchange for actual money and transfer your profits out of SL.

If your student version of Maya is prohibited from commercial use, then no, you can't.  But this is an issue between you and Autodesk, not you and LL.
