what would cause my viewer to crash each time i try to take a picture or upload one

as my subject says  thats my problem  and its beginning to annoy me as i love to take pics and edit and bring back into sl to share with my friends

Oh, my.  It sounds like you have run afoul of https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-28843 .  Take a look.  That bug affects users who have Microsoft's SkyDrive, the Amazon Cloud Drive, or the Mac equivalent (whose name escapes me at the moment).  If you read through the comments, you'll come to one by Latif Khalifa that includes a registry patch that will cure the problem, if you are not very risk-averse.  If you'd rather not mess with your registry, the easy solution is to disable SkyDrive while you are in SL.
