How long does it -actually- take for a SLM refund if the order wasn't delivered.

It's not instantaneous, and there were maintenance issues yesterday that may have slowed down things.  If you and the merchant haven't heard by tomorrow -- or earlier, if you are impatient -- file a support ticket to get Linden Lab's attention.  Be sure to cut & paste all of the transaction details from your Order History in Marketplace and include them in your ticket.

[update 4:15 am PST, 9 March 2013] We are still experiencing Marketplace delivery slowdowns by Magic Box. We expect the issue to be resolved within 48 hours. Thank you very much for your patience.

[Posted 11:15 am PST, 8 March 2013] Marketplace deliveries orders being delivered by Magic Box are running slowly this morning.  We’ll have the problem diagnosed and corrected as quickly as possible.
