Faces are only one sided inworld SL.  To be able to see both sides you need to duplicate the faces and invert the normals in the duplicate.

In Blender, to see how your mesh will look in SL, turn on "Backface culling".

In the above image I have removed one face from the box so that we can see inside.  As you can see with "Backface culling" on the outside is visible, the inside is invisible.  This is how the box will look in SL unless the faces are duplicated and normals inverted in the duplicate faces.

Flip Normals.png

edited to add:

I just read your first post again .Generally you only want to see the outside of a mesh so maybe you don't need to duplicate the faces but simple flip the Normals of the ones you  already have so that they are facing outwards ? There is no point in duplicating faces that will never be seen :)

Another thing worth noting:

It is possible to take a quad and have it double sided without adding extra verticies. To do this, first triangulate the quad so it is split into two triangles facing one way. Then create your new triangles from the verts not already used to create the existing triangles...

Hmm... It's hard to explain... picture this: Imagine a quad below with the four numbered verticies:

1  2
3  4

Triangle1 uses verts 1,2,3 and Traingle2 uses verts 2,3,4. These face in one dirction.
Triangle3 could use verts 1,2,4 and Triangle4 could use verts 1,3,4. These could face the opposite direction.
