Selling L$ is a two-step process.  It sounds like you only did step #1.  You sold your L$ to other SL residents through the Lindex, so that you now have a dollar balance in your account.  To finish the job, you need to request a credit transfer to PayPal.  See https://secondlife.com/my/lindex/process-credit.php?
