Are there any tutorials out there that show how to make a side tattoo?

Everytime I try to create a side tatttoo it always stretches my image. I use Gimp mostly, but if there is a better way please let me know. Thanks.

It's not you or GIMP.  It's the avatar.  It's almost impossible to do any sensible detailing on your avatar's side.  Especially on the female av, there is stretching from the lower part of the ribcage to the armpit.  It's hard to paint any sort of detail that doesn't get distorted on the sides of your breasts.  Below that, the upper body bends, again causing distortion every time you move.  That's just not a friendly part of the avatar body.
