You are trying to login to Second Life from your web browser. It's not the way that works. Once the program has been dowloaded and installed on your computer, you have to launch the Second Life application from your applications folder (or from your desktop if you created an alias). Enter your name and password and click "login".

However, when you are browsing the marketplace or the destination guide in Firefox, you may access to SL using a SLurl. But you have to tell Firefox to recognize Second Life (it should be in the browser's preferences if I remember well, or Firefox will ask you to choose an application: browse your applications folder on your computer and select Second Life). Then when clicking on a SLurl, it will launch the viewer and you will be able to enter the program from SL login screen.

Val's right.  Most people do not enter SL from a web browser.  They just click on their SL viewer's icon on the desktop.  If you really insist on using a SLURL as the entry to Second Life, though, here's how to do it with Firefox:

1. In Firefox, open the Tools >>> Options menu and click the Applications tab.

2. Scroll down the listings, looking in the left column for Second Life.

3. When you find it, there should be a drop-down menu on the right column, next to it, that you can use to browse for the path to your Second Life viewer.  Do it.

4. Click OK to close.

Once you've done that, Firefox should know what to do with a web address that points to Second Life.  It should open your selected viewer and log you in to the encoded destination.  If you decide to change your SL viewer, of course, you'll have to do steps 1-4 again.
