The easy answer is to move the pieces closer together, or try not to link all of your pieces into a single linkset.  The linkability rule can be written as:

 LINKABLE = D < 54  AND  N ≤ 256 where D = diameter of the smallest bounding sphere of the collection of prim centers and N = number of prims in the collection

There's no way around those.  Builders typically make a structure out of several linksets and either pick them up as a coalesced object or package them with a rezbox like Builder's Buddy or Rez-Faux.
