jvhs Andrews
Hey guys, I'm having an anoying issue over here.I just purchased a newer macbook pro 13", 2.5GHz i5, intell HD4000, 4GB ram When I load up second life, I can get in the game fine, but thats where it all ends. Almost nothing loads. I can't tp anywhere, the region I am in defaults to nothing (even though I know i own the land), friends list wont load, I can't see owners or creators of items (just says loading), and I cant TP. If i try and TP I end up getting logged out. On my older macbook pro (running mountain lion as well) 2.5 GHz core duo, 650M graphics card, 4GB Ram (a lower end computer than what I have now) Everything runs fine, but I cant figure out why! Can someone help me? I have tried uninstalling and even deleting all the second life files left over to try and clean install it - but i get the same problem! What's going on!? Echo Hermit
Welcome to Second Life Forums, jvhs This to me sounds like a connection issue. Reset your modem, and see if that does anything to help. Other responses will follow.
Theresa Tennyson
Macs are notorious for having DNS issues with Second LIfe (i.e. finding/using the correct Internet addresses to have everything connected) Google offers free DNS addresses that have helped some people with these issues. You should be able to find information about how to use them if you search that topic.
jvhs Andrews
I couldn't be a connection issue. I can litteraly turn over and work it just fine on the older mac.
Echo Hermit
Did you read Theresa's Mac-specific post?
jvhs Andrews
I'm looking into what it means. I'm not very teck savvy.
Paul Hexem
No... That's definitely a connection issue. Try a different DNS server. http://www.plus.net/support/software/dns/changing_dns_mac.shtml https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using Either of those might help. We all only know what we all only know. :matte-motes-grin: (and I am afraid I known next to nothing about Macs). However, it looks like Gadget has provided some good links to help you a bit more. jvhs Andrews
ok i've tried both Google's free DNS and the first link. Google's at least kept internet, but didnt fix SL. The first link given just kiled the interwebs. Trying second link. =-(
jvhs Andrews
Nope. Nothing. I'm still having the exact same issue. I checked the DNS on the older laptop - its the same as the one on this... What am I missing?
jvhs Andrews
AH! HEY! I GOT IT! as a last ditch effort I just added all four of googles DNSs into my settings. the two numbers for both IPv4 and IPv6. The numbers alone don't work, but if you have all 4 it seems to do the trick! Thanks so much guys! You're all the freakin' best!
