Question

I just joined a few days ago and my Places and Profile sidebar tabs are completely blank!

I've tried clearing my cache and deleting/reinstalling viewer (which i downloaded from the main SL site). I'm having to open main site on my browser to search for destinations i want to visit.

Someone recommended that i use Phoenix browser and i don't have the same problem on that. But I prefer the SL browser :-/ Hellllpppp

Make sure you have Enable Plugins, Accept Cookies and Enable Javascript ticked in Preferences > Setup as shown below. Check you have the latest versions of Flash Player and Java installed:

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html

http://www.java.com/en/

Restart your computer after updating.

If still not appearing, check your virus scanner is not blocking access.

Check if the SLPlugin.exe is running properly:

  • Relog and open Search
  • Go to your computer processes and look for “slplugin.exe”
    • For Windows users, go to Task Manager → Processes Tab
    • For Mac users, go to Activity Monitor → My Processes (usually by default, but you can check top right drop down)
    • For Linux users, go to Command Terminal, and type “ps aux”
    • You may see four instances of the slplugin running (that is normal behavior)
    • If you do not see any instances of slplugin running, that is the cause of media failing
  • If slplugin is not running, disable all firewall and virus protection (including anti-virus software and windows or other operating system firewalls)
  • Relog and attempt video playback again
  • If it works, you will need to stop your firewall/virus protection from blocking the slplugin file by granting it appropriate permissions in your firewall/virus protection software
