Possibly very little as it sounds like your computer is not able to run second generation SL viewers such as viewer 2/3 and Firestorm and can only run viewer 1 based viewers such as Phoenix. Have you reduced your graphics settings to low prior to logging in with SL3 or Firestorm? Are you using a wired connection and not wireless?

Can you please post details of your computer system. Open Phoenix to the login screen and select Help > About Phoenix viewer and copy/paste the computer details from the window that opens into your post  using Options > Edit.

Another viewer you might try is Singularity which has MESH capabilities, is a viewer 1 model like Phoenix and works on many machines (reportedly from friends) that will not run any other viewers because of low system resources. There are plenty of people in your situation. In fact I may install Singularity on my seldom used notebook which now has the no longer available 1.23.5.

Not everyone can  run SL. The fact that you can use Phoenix is a plus. It does pretty much everything the V2 and V3 viewers do so sticking with that is a good plan really. The only thing Singularity might give you is better load times and possibly better graphics settings -- simply because it is easier on computer systems.

good luck.
