Dane Rage
I have a question about how the DMCA process works when content gets removed. If a DMCA'ed marketplace listing get's removed does it also remove the content from anyone who purchased it from that marketplace listing?
Pamela Galli
Not usually, tho in some cases yes. Why I could not say.
Jac0p0
Hi, if the DMCA report included the UUIDs of the items contained in that listing, yes they will dissapear in every inventory they exist, no matter if that item was bought inworld or via Marketplace. More exactly, they still show up in the inventory, but they are a decoy item renamed like dmca something. Long time ago I found in my inventory a stolen dance animation that was included in a big pack of freebies, that was DMCA reported and eventually removed. Amethyst Jetaime
My understanding is that it depends on the owner of the IP rights. They can ask that the item for sale only be removed or they can ask that all instances of the item be removed. If the latter, then it disappears from everyone's inventory that had a copy. Some IP owners only ask that it stopped being sold and don't ask that every copy be removed, probably for PR purposes. Removal does tend to make existing and potential customers mad.
