I want to build a bench ... I have sculpts

First, I would probably not bother using sculpties.  That's an old technology -- a temporary stop gap before Linden Lab gave us the tools to build with true mesh.  Either use basic prims or (better) make or buy a mesh bench to work with.  Then .... I'm not quite sure what you mean by "making" seats, but I suspect that you mean you want to script them.  For that, you either need to write a script yourself, hire someone to do it, or use a commercial package.  There are some popular ones out there, like AvSitter.  Yes, there are limits.  Two kinds.  First, you cannot have more than one scripted sit target per prim, so you are limited to scripting seats for as many avatars as you have prims in your object.  Second, you cannot squeeze avatars too close together or they'll collide.  It is common to move a seated avatar to make room for another one in the same general area, but you still need to have enough physical space for the second avatar to fit.
