Question

When I log onto SL using the Firestorm viewer my AVI is nothing more than an oragne cloud.  I get a pop-up that says it can't load my clothes.

I've tried logging out and then back on; using the current version as well as older versions of the firestomr viewer, and even using the SL website viewer.  In firestorm I'm just an orgnage cloud.  In the classic SL viewer I'm a white cloud.

However this Error has been like this for a week.  I can use a different accounts  and log in just fine.

Anyhelp would be apprecated.

Cheers

Zapper

You have discovered "bake fail".  That orange (or white) cloud is your default avatar shape -- the shape that your viewer uses until it has finished downloading and rendering your real shape.  It should disappear within less than three seconds.  If it doesn't, you are not making a solid connection to SL's servers.  You might be able to get temporary relief by following some of the advice at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_bake_fail  .  If the problem keeps happening, though, you need to do something about your Internet connection.  Bandwith is not the problem.  Reliability is.  You are either losing data or your viewer is taking too long to transmit data to the servers.  Try:

(1) Try shutting off your computer, unplugging the router and modem for a couple of minutes, and then plugging them back in and restarting. That simple step may clear up everything

(2) Add Google's free public DNS servers to whatever your ISP assigns you as a default. Here's how >>> https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using

(3) Read the more advanced suggestions in Nalates's blog at http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/
