People say "Oh I can spot *insert type here* a mile away", to which I say: sure if they are blatantly a child avatar. But we all know this is a can of worms.

You're deliberstely making this much more complicated than it is. If you are this fearful of getting banned from a sim the simple solution is to make yourself look older. If you find that confusing, ask some people putside your sl social circle for help. Many people have seen rl children and understand how to differentiate between them and adults.

The problem is anyone can decide that you look "underage" and decide to ruin your day for a number of factors. From clothing, to make up, to heads, to avatar shape can effect this. I put on a goth dommy outfit and makeup one moment, then I go for kawaii aesthetic the next and all the sudden I look "underage"

Again, you're wishing it wasn't easy to distinguish between adults and children and that's not the case.

And as for someone not liking your outfit, anyone can ban me from a sim for having an ugly avi or a female avi. If you want to go somewhere you have to comply with the requirements of the sim owner. That's still the same as ever.

Personally I think the whole morality crisis is a bit overblown, but America always seemed really insecure about this kind of thing, so it doesn't surprise me.

Not sure where you're from but I live in a country where we take steps to keep kids safe. The problem with online spaces is that once a behavior is allowed to flourish anonymously for years, it is seen as normal within those communities. Until reality comes knocking.

I come to SL to relax and do the things I never got to enjoy when I was a kid in RL. My SL family are lovely and have helped me heal a lot.

Sounds like you should keep logging in then. I don't think a modesty layer is "a small price to pay" or any price to pay, really, unless the purpose of your child avi is to be naked.

I didn't say I wanted to be nude, you took my post completely out of context. Where I said, whether I will be able to remin in SL, is refering to whether the content creator for my body will update so I will be complaint. I want to be complaint.

You said you felt sick that you have to wear a modesty layer as a child avi then said you might not renew your membership

The intent is to make it impossible for kids to be nude. Again, this is mostly a good idea, although part of me feels sick that I need this modesty layer - I've done nothing wrong. I don't know if I'll be able to remain in sl.

I think you need to take a good hard look at why you find the ability to be nude in a child avi so valuable to the point that youre willing to quit sl over it.

Yes, and therefore a stupid point to act on. There is a difference between a naked kid dancing on a pole in a club - and one splashing in the water on a nude family beach. But if I re-enacted my totally innocent and sexfree RL kid summer fun in SL I would be punished for that.

Just put a bathing suit on your baby avatar. It's really not that hard nd it won't take away any of the experience unless its all about being a naked kid on a beach for you.

I would like to see better means to protect the adults in SL from the RL children that make accounts to join SL.

There used to be age verification in sl and anyone under 18 was on the teen grid and coudn't go anywhere else. I'm not sure why they dropped it, given the sh** that goes on in sl. Probably lack of bandwidth and not caring too much.

    * hard to be social. How to get friends or playing with other. Impression that all player want to play alone

Unfortunately a lot of people in sl have bought into the idea that having a nice avi somehow makes them amazing and they get quite snooty about who they talk to. Don't take it personally. It's hilarious when you think about what's probably behind the avatar.

Linden Lab likely doesn't want to be viewed as contributing to RL child pornography or abuse either, so any depictions that could be viewed by the public are also their concern. Viewing simulated behavior that is illegal or repugnant to most people won't make most people want to do that behavior in RL, but for those who are inclined to do such behaviors in RL, viewing it might encourage them. Thus LL must make it difficult for sexual AP to be seen, even if they can't stop it completely.

    Agreed.

Hopefully they'll do their best, it's not an easy thing to tackle and toes will be stepped on but i think it's worth it. I forsee a lot of pushback from some communities in sl
