What is not uncommon is to see two smaller parcels side by side for sale that equals your desired total.  You can buy both and combine them.

Both parcels have to be on the same sim in order to join them, a little detail that can be a real pain if forgotten.

Another place you can search for land is search.secondlife.com, just found a qtr sim sized lot for L$ 7360

  2. The ones I checked out looked fairly nice with sculpty or mesh terrain and landscaping but a relatively small area you could actually build on, with a security orb one could live out their second life as a hermit.  I can see the appeal for someone that wants a medium sized house in a secluded looking surrounding, but if your priorities are prims and useable build area you'll do better with a mainland or private estate parcel.

The joke is on you as this thread is 1.5 years old

And the annoyance is that this thread, as well as other necro'd threads, show up as completely unread.  In this case I am certain I had read all posts up to the point it died the first time.  Another short coming of this forum system, or a Linden revenge on me for clearing my browser history and cookies and blocking ads?

  4. Was just browsing the inworld map and noticed one of my favorite builds at Loveland is gone.  It was an incredible castle that could be seen from several sims away, I've gone there often in the past to check it out, and now just another empty parcel abandoned Aug 16 according to About Land.  A sign of the times I guess.

  6. Since Server Side Appearance I've noticed a couple of times an avatar will appear first as a grey Ruth, but only for a second or two at the most before rezing normally.  I see this effect rarely, and the few times I've seen it it hasn't lasted long.

These "friends" may have seen that brief Ruth effect on you, and they sound like the sort that can't keep from giggling whenever they hear a word like "cockpit" and can't let something stupid like this go.  It'd probably be a great improvement in your life to let them go and find some real friends.

It was a hovering text script attached directly to my hair  on my in-universe avatar. I don't really roleplay aside from giving my avatar mannerisms and a clothing style.

My profile? I don't know what to put on it.

Honestly, it almost wouldn't matter what it said, as a general rule many people find hovering text over Ava's very annoying.  Get a couple of people in a club with text over their heads and bouncing around your screen and it looks like poop.  I'm not trying to be mean here, just honest.

Best you could do is add a note to your profile, "I'm not here to Flirt or be Picked up.  Please respect that."  It may not completely solve the problem for you but it will go a long way toward reducing it.  Many of us do look at Profiles before IMing someone.

I very much agree here.  I try using my viewers settings to get rid of the clutter and leave just the names over the avatars I see and it's a bit annoying when someone uses a hover text script to circumvent that.

  8. In the build editor I've often noticed an irritating tendency for dimensions to drift, like becoming 127.9995 when I had it at 128.  As I noticed prims drifting I use to type back in the number I wanted, lately when I check Edit Linked then select the misbehaving prim it pops back into position by itself.  And it doesn't stay fixed, a couple of weeks later, maybe a month, a prim is sneaking back out of position again.  Tempted to unlink the whole thing and see if that cures it, but that makes moving the build much messier.

Don't know if this is any help, just glad I'm not alone with this frustration

  9. First time I heard about Second Life I was on a MUCK (an old text only virtual world) when a guy came around like he was on a recruiting drive.  At that time my internet connection was dialup and my cranky computer was capable of something like 32 colors (yes, colors, not color bits), so he didn't waste much time with me.  But he, and later conversations I overheard about Second Life, got me curious and I read up on Second Life over the years.

About early 2010 I finally got access to DSL, scrounged up a better though still wimpy computer from forgotten parts at work, and rez'd in world for the first time.  As all the grey forms slowly materialized and their textures rez'd even slower I figured 'great, I'm a JAFO (Just Another F***ing Observer)'.  But I stuck with it, sighed and muttered as I waited for things to rez, and was impressed enough with what I saw then I soon upgraded the computer several times then replaced it all together.

Up till my first rez day what I had heard and read of about Second Life had painted a pretty rosy picture of easy socializing, amazing sites, and easy money for those willing to make a little effort.  I've always been skeptical of  "easy money" so wasn't surprised to find that to be a great exaggeration, after a couple pick-on-the-noob experiences I rediscovered my thick skin, and though a lot of what I saw was just trash I have seen a lot of amazing sites.
