I am unable to link four prims. They are just large cushion sizes so not huge or particularly tiny. They are not created by me but are all copy/mod. What happens is that I appear to link them ok and they move as one object while the edit window is open. Once I close the edit window, they all become individual prims again and are not linked. Help please :)

I'm away from hom home for a few weeks and using an internet connection which is limited (student residences). Can anyone suggest a viewer I can use to log in under these circumstances? I normally use Firestorm and so far I have also tried Radegast and Lumiya on my phone. TIA :) Update: (There really should be a way to reply to answers on a thread .. can't find how to do it if there is ..) I don't think I explained well enough my situation. I am staying in student residences where the internet connection is "capped" and large downloads etc are not allowed (for example, I can't download movies from youtube here).. This appears to affect my ability to log into SL altogether. When I try to log inworld, the viewer opens, I entery my username and password, it sometimes goes as far as "Waiting for region handshake" then I get an error message something along the lines of"sorry there appears to be something wrong with your internet connection or the SL servers". This happens whichever viewer I try - Firestorm V3, Imprudence and even on my phone with Lumiya. I'm at the point of accepting that I won't be able to log in while I'm here using this internet connection, but I was hoping someone out there more knowledgeable than I would have experienced this and know some sneaky "workaround". This must surely happen to other people, other students, or in the workplace etc?

Hi Pirodius I see you posted this yesterday and Tuesday is known as Rolling Restart Day, which often causes multiple temporary issues. If you are still having problems, try this link http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_bake_fail It concentrates on avatar bake fail problems but your general texture loading issue could be caused by the same problem.

Does anybody know how to get rid of the "Remember password" check box on the Login page of Firestorm? I find it defaults to checked when I don't manage to login to my chosen sim. If I don't remember to uncheck it when I log in succesfully, then when I open the viewer next time, the "Remember password" box is still checked. I use a shared PC so this is really not ideal. TIA :)

Hi Angel What viewer are you using? A dot beside a name in Firestorm "People" tab means that they are on the same sim as you, but that dot is green, not blue. A blue dot on the minimap is a Linden Lab Employee (other residents appear as green dots, your friends appear as yellow dots). A blue area on the minimap (which can be as small as a dot) means there is an item or items belonging to you on that spot. I hope this helps, but if not, if you can give us more information (eg which viewer), maybe we can help further.

Another idea is that it could be that old nutshell the "sl glitch". Your av can hover for no obvious reason sometimes. Try flying up for a few seconds then fly all the way down to the ground. This can sometimes fix it. Another thing to try is to sit on an object then stand up again.

I've been in SL well over 6 years and seen an experienced many types of griefings and crashes but not seen this before. Standing on a Help area suddenly my screen in the viewer goes totally pale blue and I am off the grid on the SL Map, and totally blank on the mini map. I don't see my av or anything at all except the blank pale blue in the viewer. I'm still able to take part in local chat however and am able to tp home easily. This has happened twice today but never before. Anybody else experienced this? Is it a griefing or some kind of semi-crash/SL glitch? TIA :)

I recently did this myself and it went fairly smoothly, if time consuming. You didn't mention that you had removed your magic boxes from inworld, deleted them from XstreetSL and refreshed afterwards etc as per this link under Magic Box Cleanup: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Marketplace-Direct-Delivery-migration-guide/ta-p/1293139#Section_.5 Could this be the problem?

Can a person I have muted comment on my profile feed, and can they send me Marketplace "gifts"?

Yes, it will have that person's name on your profile, even if they delete their account (I know someone who deleted their account almost a year ago and they are still partnered). You won't be able to find them in search once the account is deleted, but with some viewers, if you still have the calling card from that friend when you added them, clicking on the calling card will bring up the profile as it was. On web profiles, you will see that person's profile as blank and with the note "This name is unavailable". HTH!

I'm bumping this thread with a new but related question. A friend of mine's account today says "This name is unavailable" on the web based profile, which I know means the account has been deleted or permanently suspended by LL. However, his profile inworld in Firestorm looks just as it did yesterday, no sign that he was going to delete his account. So, I have another question: How soon after someone clicks "Delete account" will the webpage profile change to unavailable. It takes a couple of months for an account to be deleted and unretrievable, so does it change immediately (ie within a few hours of deleting) or does it change only after a few months and it is irrevocable?

I've recently done a clean install of V3 and needed to add in Windlight settings to get the usual environment settings that I like. I used Torley's Windlight settings download but found that a few of my favourite settings aren't there (because they are not Torley's! lol). Specifically, I like the Optimal Skin settings - Nam's is my favourite. Does anybody know where I can download these extras or do I need to install Phoenix or Firestorm just so I can "harvest" the windlight settings from it? I am loathe to do this because the reason I did a clean install of V3 was because of inworld issues which may have been conflicts from other viewers installed :(

Hi all I've been in SL for 5 1/2 years and help out at help areas and in sl mentoring groups, but now I need some help myself with sl voice. In the last few months, sl voice has a tendency to drop out when I am speaking. This means it breaks up every 2 -5 seconds. I have just looked in detail at what may be causing this and have tried the following, to no avail: 1. I usually use a wireless connection, but even hard-wired to my router, this exact same problem occurs, so it isn't the wireless connection. 2. Checking on Skype test call, my headset works normally with no drop outs and using the built in mic/speakers on my laptop on sl voice, the same break ups occur, so it isn't my headset. 3. My Norton firewall is set to allow both secondlife.exe and sl voice.exe. Also windows firewall similarly, so it isn't a firewall issue. 4. I have enabled a specific Port in my router in Preferences for SL and my d/l speed with my ISP is excellent (regularly 15 meg and up to 30 meg at times), so it doesn't seem to be about speed. I have experimented with setting my bandwidth at 1000, 3000 and even 10,000, and none of these settings fix the problem. Can anybody come up with any further suggestions I could try? Hi all This is a question for those in the UK who use Virgin Media Broadband ISP. I've just had Virgin Media installed yesterday and was impressed to be getting anything from 20-30 mb dl speed once installed. I can use SL reasonably well, although I did have some unusual crashes yesterday. My main source of concern is Voice. It's "sluggish" and generally unreliable, in that when I click the Speak button, there may be a delay of about 3-4 seconds before it starts broadcasting my voice, it may stop broadcasting in the middle of me speaking or not come on at all. I still have my old ISP installed for the time being, so I am able to test my Voice on that for comparison and it works fine as usual with the old ISP. I also checked my equipment on Windows and Skype Test Call and it seems to be working perfectly. Thus I deduce it must be something to do with Virgin Broadband. I've looked on Virgin help forums and there is talk of Virgin Media Security/firewall which prevents people logging into SL at all (luckily I don't have that problem) but I wonder if it may be affecting Voice. I haven't deliberately installed any VM firewall, however ... Any help or advice out there? :)

I use profile notes on other people's profiles a lot because I meet and help many people at Help Island Public. Soon after I downloaded Firestorm Beta 1 (now using Beta 2), I noticed multiple issues with profile notes, which I haven't been able to replicate. Sometimes I will start to write a note on a profile, but the note will disappear spontaneously as I write and I have to begin again. Sometimes the note appears to save but when I return to the note a few minutes later, it is blank. Most frustratingly, long standing, detailed profile notes on old friends (some more than a year) have totally disappeared leaving a blank space. I have attempted to see if these long standing notes reappear using different viewers (Phoenix and V2) and also by going to the Beta grid and mysecondlife.com and checking there, but they do not reappear. Support at Phoenix Firestorm say this is a LL issue, but I don't have a premium account so support is limited. What particularly bothers me is the loss of the long standing notes on old friends. Has anybody else experienced this and does anybody have any suggestions how to recover these lost notes?

I've noticed a strange issue regarding my profile notes on someone else's profile. This person has a private profile and has dissolved our friendship a few weeks ago. In the last few days, I no longer see the profile notes I made for them, dating back to last August. This may be related to them deleting the calling card for the friendship as well, but not certain. I have tried checking with several viewers (Phoenix, Firestorm, Viewer 2.7) and also on the Beta grid. I now see no notes for this person in any viewer.
