Baked on  mesh is working the some mesh body may need the that flat on the body so its not going through sticking out  I know slink made chest that was smaller to make smaller may have to be fixed for baked on mesh. Have slink hourglass on has to reshape the body to fit in the dress.

you must create an alpha layer to hide those parts since now the old system with alpha cuts on mesh is a bit useless

There's no dedicated "right arm" bake - with the standard avatar the right arm is included in the upper body texture and the same texture is mirrored for the left arm; similar for the left foot.

They've added new "channels" to allow a separate bake for the left arm and left foot. They'll never show up on the default avatar.

You'll need to configure a part of the body to use the left bakes, and currently the only wearables that can be used are the new "Universal" wearables. They're not really that useful yet - for instance, the texture of a standard skin won't appear in the left arm and left foot bakes.

Thank you so much. This mean i were doing all right hehe. Pity they not yet  worked on it, since with normal mesh avatars you can choose, I talk about exmachina davide, I do not know if the others does too, you can apply left or right arm tattoo without problems, also on skin to be honest. This make avatara a bit more realistic, I think.

Just wanted to clear up the mesh head issues.  The problems you are seeing are the result of the mesh head designer deciding to use UVs that are different than the LL Default avatar head UVs.  If you wear a skin that was designed to use the LL Default avatar head UVs on a custom mesh head that is using different UV layout the skin will not look right.  It is not being caused by Bakes On Mesh.

The reason Bakes On Mesh works better with all custom mesh bodies is because the custom mesh body designers all use the LL Default avatar UVs.  A number of mesh head designers are using their own modified version of the LL Default avatar head UVs.  Skin designers wishing to make skins for these heads have to make their textures to fit the UV layout of the particular head.  This means they have to upload a separate textures they custom make to fit each head designer's heads.

So what is the solution?  Each skin designer that is making skins now and currently using appliers will have to make a system skin using the same textures they already are using with the appliers.  Then they just have to name the skin with the name of the mesh head that skin is supposed to work with.  So as the customer when you buy their skin you will receive multiple skins made for specific heads.

Now it would be smart of those custom mesh head designers to provide two heads to their customers.  One with their own custom or modified UVs and one that has the LL Default avatar head UVs.  They both can use Bakes On Mesh but the head using the LL Default avatar head UVs will be able to use any skin textures made for the LL Default avatar and also make it a lot less work for skin designers as they can merely create one skin instead of having to make multiple versions for multiple heads not using the LL Default avatar head UVs.  Of course it is totally up to the custom mesh head designers if they want to provide two heads or not.

I think that those mesh heads that don't at least provide a mesh head using the LL Default avatar head UVs will loose out and sale will drop.

The thing to remember is Bakes On Mesh doesn't care what the UV layout is.  It just takes multiple layers of textures and flattens them to one texture.  The textures just need to made for the particular UV layout of the mesh it is to be applied on.  All the current textures and skins made for all the custom mesh heads have already been uploaded and it is just up to the skin designers to use those same textures and make system skins.

Basically the steps for a skin designer to update to Bakes On Mesh is right mouse click in their inventory and choose "New Body Part < New Skin".  Then wear the skin and edit it.  Then just drop the correct textures, they already have and been using to create appliers, into the 3 slots "Head, Upper Body and Lower Body".  Then name the system skin in such a way so that the customer will easily be able to understand which custom head it is supposed to be used with.  The whole process only take about two minutes.

Hope that clears things up. :)
    Cathy

This is why I have keep an head with the sl uvmap references, and everybody is able to use also old skins on that. Since now.

But how to use the left and right arm "layers"?

I had a look at Wiply. It seems to be a new social media site mostly targeted towards italian people (text is written mostly in italian or very bad english). I personally don't see the appeal for the majority of second life users other than the promise their account won't get deleted.

Hello! I am the owner of Wiply and I think I need to explain something. First of all it is a social media not for italian people but for all, the system is write in english by english people and then translated in multi languages:

    • spanish,
    • portuguese,
    • italian,
    • dutch,
    • german,
    • french,
    • greek,
    • nederland,
    • romanian,
    • russian
    • japanese.

It is a system all in one, since it allow to create albums like flickr, to have multimedia groups  post documents as user, page, group (useful for designers which need to add user manuals or so on) you can create events, payd events, sell or book tickets/events, get your blog added in the news, have different content depending on the network you are in  ( Second life have it own network, like having own facebook withotu being bored by other networks content).

What we give is the platform, content have to be added by residents.

I am more than happy to give more explanations, if it is a constructive conversation I am available to talk and give more information, if instead it is the usual way of shoveling insults to facilitate the friend who has a site to support then I leave it immediately.

  8. Hello! So first of all you must get the addon Blender Avastar available inworld, it will help a lot to configure inautomatic many things about sl conversion. Anyway if you want to upload a rigged item you mst select in blender the object AND the skeleton and then save them as dae file, since the mesh need to "know" which is the skeleton we want it to be linked to.

With avastar these steps and many others will be way more faster

    Hope to have help

'Best' is entirely subjective, and your decision should be based on a combination of things, and your answers to a couple of questions:

    1. What kind of build do you want your body to have? (Slim? Gym-goer? etc.)
    2. Do you want to build a decent wardrobe and have a lot of clothing options, or are you happy to get just three or four outfits and have done with it?

Your answer to No.1 will be a little bit dependant on your answer to No.2. If you want a lot of clothing options, you need a body that a lot of creators are rigging for. Right now, those options are:

    • Signature Gianni - Muscular 'gym-goer' body with very pronounced biceps, triceps, and deltoids. These can be reduced if you want a less-bulky look, but it'll take some slider work.
    • Belleza Jake - Good all-round body, but has some fitting issues around the neck with many mesh heads, and if you're not using a Bento AO your fingers will often 'starfish' out, as the Jake body has no hand poses built in. Note that the Jake body is also still in beta, and has had no updates since its release.
    • Slink Physique - 'Mr Average' body with a swimmer's torso and good shoulders which is still pretty well catered for, but losing support in favour of the 'muscle boy' bodies.
    • Signature Geralt - The newest male body, rapidly gaining clothing support. Fairly slim and lean, but with sleek musculature.

If you're not bothered by having too many clothing options, you can try other bodies as well, such as NX Nardcotix, Adam, and Ex-Machina Davide. Avoid TMP (The Mesh Project). It may be cheap right now, but it's proprietary (all customisation options run on external servers, and when those are eventually switched off you'll be left with a brick) and practically nobody is creating anything for it anymore.

All the major bodies will work perfectly with the Justin head. For a good match, you'll need to find a body applier in the same skintone and by the same designer, for both your Catwa head and the brand of mesh body that you choose. Prior to 21st Feb 2017 Catwa's non-Bento head skin defaults (in the Main HUD) matched to body skins by L'Etre, but they now match to the Gen 1 skins by Clef de Peau. Those particular Clef skins can ONLY be purchased from the vendor at the Catwa store, since the main Clef skins have since been updated twice. Body skins from the Clef de Peau mainstore will not match the Justin default skins.

If your head was bought before 21st February 2017 and you want to keep the skin as it is, go to the L'Etre store and try some of their body skin demos. They have been changed a few times since that date, so they won't match 100%, but they should still be close.

If your head was bought before 21st February 2017 and you want to match it with the Clef de Peau Gen1 skins in the Catwa mainstore, go to one of the update terminals at the Catwa landing point, and redeliver your head. (Redeliver the original purchase and - when you open it - you'll find the update inside.)

If you don't want to use the defaults, go to the male Bento heads section of the Catwa store, stand right outside and look to one side for the Skin Demo wing. Inside you'll find loads of demos to try (male skins are in one wing, female in the other).

Hello, thank you for naming Exmachina Davide! I want just point out that we do have release anew alpha system, which is a sort of "community system" and let you all to wearn clothigns with old sizes and or for other brands, directly without any effort. It taketime for sure but will avoid the stress to "need" fitted mesh for the avatar. So there is a wide chocie of clothes, just designers don't know to have ready for us hehe

  10. Hello!

I amglad to say that EXMACHINA body is ready for baked mesh, we are also close to launch a beta testing program to select which scripts to keep and which not (our is a very low lag system so the matter is about which options to keep not how to make it light)

I script a few mesh bodies and I like this. I have a few thoughts and questions if anyone is interested.

For materials - I would be happy with just combining the maps as some suggested (if such a thing is possible), but you are still going to lose all the unique gloss, environ and spec rgb values.

I want to make an alpha applier thing. Applies slices of alpha to help a user fit older clothing (all of the alphas none of the calories!). Can I do this with script? I can't figure out how. I will cry many tears if I can not add textures to the bake stack via script. Ideally I would like to be able to add and remove via script and not deal with actual system clothing objects at all. Perhaps you can. I'm new at this!

Where can I find the system UUIDs so that I do not have to set faces manually and this set up should be explained on line one of the wiki and introduction.

The thing that scares me the most is the talk of using skirts for arms and all this goldberg machine type structure already building up on this. For the love of god give these people another arm (hands! feet!) so we don't have convolution right out of the gate. Mesh bodies are already 3 degree beyond insane.

Sorry if my questions are silly. I'm getting up to speed. I'll try to make some meetings.

    Hello Les

    1) materials can be created from the mesh body creators (like i have made) so you can have a generic effect which is compatible with different skins.

    2) you can script alpha appliers it is not hard to do it;

    3) the system uuid are in the "item profile" if you use viewer like firestorm, or using official viewer right click on the texture and then select uuid.

to have another arm and another hand it is easy on mesh, I, as example, have 2 different arms totallycompatible with old uvmap hehe

    Hope to have help!

LOL. Yes I saw that and read the literature but since it NEVER worked, that wasn't my first thought to try. I know better now. Thank you!   And I relog pretty quickly so not a big deal. Looking forward to the new improved version. Will check the blogger box tomorrow. :SwingingFriends:    I think your HUD (working of course :D) is VERY nicely done!   Easy to see where things are.

PS I was one of your bloggers in my extreme youth, long ago and far away before mesh. Made one of my first machinimas wearing chains from one of your male outfits.   I wish you all the best!

haha OMG!! I remember that outfit we made it with Takuya, was a fun cooperatio work hehe

Happily since I scan the forums regularly I had seen this thread (even if I didn't READ it).

I just got the new version via blogger sample. I haven't played with it much but I really DO like much of it -- better than the others I have tried. This is the out of the box look WITH THE ALPHA SLOT HUD which looks (again, I just opened it) pretty darn impressive.

There ARE some skin seams but with the Omega applier that should be solved. I haven't looked to see if there is an applier on the market (yep there is) so that should solve the issue!

Later edit:  The blogger version doesn't appear to have a working hud and there IS NO DEMO where it is being sold.  So as others have said on this thread, there are still issues. There are possibilities here but the maker needs to get on board with the demo.   I won't be featuring on the blog :D.
