  1. Hey all, I saw an older topic that talked about this but only one of the companies was current.I just gave up my homestead-I never used the space anyways. Also,I don't mind adding items for clutter or a favorite sofa or something but it's just not my thing. Luane's World is beautiful but again, not into inside decorating..
I'd love a sim that decorates the area around the homes and leaves enough space for privacy inbetween.Anyone know of places to check?

Well, I've had a look through my inventory and, for ivy in particular, the stores I'd recommend are Fantasy Illumination and Love Superstore. Unfortunately, you've missed a sale on Love's Manor Ivy pack by a couple of weeks ($50 for the set vs. the usual $299), but their English Wall Ivy pack may well be on sale in the next month or two (it's currently $250). I've been using the ivy from Fantasy Illumination - you can generally link two pieces and get away with only 1 LI, some pieces are large enought to cover a good stretch of wall, and the LODs are excellent. (The photo includes 3 pieces of Fantasy Illumination ivy - downsized a lot - and all that coverage uses only 2 LI.) Other places that have sales on ivy from time to time are Fallen NY and FINCA. One last good source is The Home Store, if you're willing and able to de-construct some of their set pieces.

Thank you, those are gorgeous and low LI to boot!I'll go take a peek at those shops.

There are better versions of ivy available than what you'll find in the Log home content pack - lower LI, more realistic and better LODs. I need to shut down my laptop as dinner is imminent, but will get back with some suggestions a bit later. (One that springs to mind is Fantasy Illumination.) Nothing is on sale at the moment, but it will still be a lot cheaper than a month's premium.

Thanks!I have premium plus anyway, but I didn't think they might be a high LI..

My biggest want on the content packs are the textures and home trim pieces so that add-ons match better.  I've only used a few of their plants/trees - usually because of the high LI

Ah good point. Thanks! I just thought about that piece because that's what the designer at the belissaria event "model home" did on theirs and I liked the look

Go premium on an alt for one month and grab all the content packs.

ETA:  You could add your vote to the request...

ah, this describes it "While some of these assets can be gotten of you own a particular Linden Home, you can only access the assets given by the home you have. Meaning that you have to abandon the Linden Home you may have fallen in love with, just to get a copy of assets from the other designs." bummer.

You'd actually have to go Premium Plus for one month, in order to get the content packs of the homes reserved for Premium Plus.

I have been thinking of doing just this. I figure it is worth the $30.00 to grab them all -- assuming that all types of homes that I don't yet have packs for are actually available.

ETA:  As of today, for the 2 Premium Plus styles, the Mediterranean is available, but there are not any Ranch homes available.

I am Premium plus, and did grab a Mediterranean but decided it wasn't for me, but I have the pack.Might have the ranch pack as well. I was just trying to save the trouble of actually grabbing a home in each style and then abandoning it for the packs..

  7. Is there a way to get these other than renting the type of house you want the pack for?I have a treehouse, and saw at the Bellissaria event that someone decorated with ivy from the log homes pack(I think?) anyway they would be nice to have but don't want to give up my house to go claim one in each "theme"..

I was just trying to save the trouble of actually grabbing a home in each style and then abandoning it for the packs..

Apologies for the dump but been shopping at C88 ... Top to bottom we have ...

Bauhaus (only black purchased), Tres Blah fatpack (I blame @First Noelle for making me buy this), Pixicat fatpack ( blame goes to @Blush Bravin), and slacks and asymmetrical top by ISON in a fatpack.

  10. There's just been a lot of personal stuff going on in my life recently, and also with the state of the world lately..so I find myself logging in to SL more than usual-spending time decorating my sim, taking pics for Flickr(mostly soothing tropical themes)shopping and exploring beautiful sims others have created.Anyone else doing this too?

Is it because we can control who we interact with? What we spend our time doing? My husband used to almost make fun of me when I roleplayed and spent time in SL when we first started in 09, but now even he is spending more time here lately.

It's easy to cut back yes, but that's also true for the people who create and sell stuff. Some of your favorite creators might/will decide they are not getting enough butter for their efforts and stop. The total amount of butter in SL is not growing, only LL's share of it.

Like someone else mentioned, that's the way the economy works.I have a small business in RL that is based on discretionary income(people don't have to buy, little luxuries) and due to price hikes in almost everything from postage to supplies-we have to (or should) be passing on at least some costs to our customers, but the problem is, because people don't HAVE to buy, some won't.There's a mental price point a lot have and won't go past that no matter if they can afford it or not. I don't expect anyone to feel obligated to pay my increases if they don't see the value or if they just think the price is too high..I have seen several other businesses throw in the towel because it's not worth it to them anymore, which is sad but that's just the way things go in a depressed economy. All I can really do is set myself apart by my quality or diversity of offerings as compared to my competition..

it's a lot easer to do.. look at the open orders and pick your rate, not to the market buy.

for fast buy offer 1 L$ less than the current open order ..
when having more patience offer the current rate of open order
if you dare to make a bit more go for 1L$ more

just a note.. 1 L$ difference will only really matter on serious amounts .. a order for a USD 10 (ex fees) will only give you 10L$ difference

ps .. OP.. don't go to the 260/1 -270/1 .. your money will be in escrow till the sun turns in a white dwarf.

Where do you find this info? I'm not seeing it..great idea!

If you are just being yourself, it's not roleplaying IMO.  You're still you regardless of what your avatar looks like.  THAT is what matters.  I do agree that trying to RP another race is entirely different.   I see a lot of lovely white skins.  I've played around with those looks and for me, it just feels odd.   Even if I were to wear one on a regular basis, I'd still be the same old person underneath.

One of my old avatars has always worn a white skin.  I still didn't play as anyone other than me.

Just wondered if it's alright for black people to use a white avatar or is that some sort of problem, too?

No problem here..I personally don't care how someone represents themselves physically in SL, it's the person underneath and how they act. If someone obscures their sex and gets into a relationship with someone not telling them, (race to me would apply here as well I think) I DO have a problem with that.
Some people DO roleplay in a fashion different than their normal persona (say maybe Santa Ramona Valley or those other sort of RL sim?) that's why I mentioned it.

Anyway, I don't want to offend anyone. My outlook in life (RL included) is do what you want, just don't hurt someone else.I thought your comment deserved a reply, but now I'm really "out"..

  14. I know as INFJ's we're only social when we have the energy for it, but it'd be nice to have some people to chat with and do activities with sometimes.
I am a geek IRL and adore chatting about books, video games(Love Fallout and Red dead Redemption 2), some TV shows(I love the shades of gray kind like Breaking Bad or Walking dead where there's a lot of delving into the whys of people).

  15. Maybe the people that attend your bible readings would be a good start to making friends?I totally get how you feel though, but I am an introvert-I spend most of my SL time alone-shopping, playing "virtual Barbie", exploring beautiful sims as well as decorating my own, and taking pics. It's hard to find like minded people and if you feel like you have to, it makes things harder.
Check out the SL destination category and hang out at the places you feel are most "you" and maybe you'll find similar minded people?

Or, you could take a short break and see what it is you miss about SL when you're not on..Decorating? Exploring?Shopping? Avatar tweaking?Making friends?Just keep in mind, you don't HAVE to do anything..that feeling of logging in and having no idea why you're even on is a big problem even for me sometimes..I stare at my sim's sunsets while fishing way more than I care to admit..
    Good luck!!
