  1. Hi Betty Thanks for replying. I mean the smoothing that happen with the shortcut keys 1, 2, and 3 "subdivDisplaySmoothnes - Smoothness 3" I'm sorry I don't know how to explain better!
  2. Is it not possible to upload mesh items, a skirt in this case, with the mesh smoothed out? My skirt looks perfect in Maya with smoothing, but it looks all bulky and jagged when I upload it to SL. Or do we have to build and upload withouth smoothing? (I hope my question makes sense) Thanks
  3. Is it better to make a "bounding box" in Maya and upload it, or is the SL-generated one ok? And if I make it in Maya, should it be rigged too? Thanks :matte-motes-smile:
  4. Update: I re-uploaded the exact same dae file and this time it worked perfectly. I'm happy it worked but I'm none the wiser.
  5. I get this error when I try to upload my mesh skirt (made in Maya 2009 and exported via FBX dae) Anybody know what is wrong? Thanks :)
  6. I can't believe it but I found the solution! I re-named all my bones, by deleting the "skeleton:" part and it worked! So happy now :matte-motes-smile:

  8. Thank you all for your replies. I've been playing around today again, yet still not getting any luck. I got my skeleton from here on the forums, but I can't find the thread for the life of me. It was however one that seemed to be in wide use. From reading other threads here on the forum, it would seem that I'm simply not selection all the joints, but to me it looks like I am. This is what it looks like with all bones and joints selected: These are my Smooth Bind settings: This is the mesh skirt I'm trying to upload: And here is the dreaded greyed out upload window: Does anybody see anything wrong with this? If not, I'm starting to think I might have to do the upload via Blender. Thanks again. Milla

  10. I've been completely stumped trying to get my rigged meshes uploaded to SL. I'm working on a Mac using Maya 2009. The Skin Weight in the upload window remains greyed out for me and I don't know what to do. I've read through the forums and I've made sure I have all the right bones selected as per this thread: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Mesh/I-am-able-to-upload-full-body-rigged-mesh-not-able-to-upload/m-p/1057877and followed this tutorial: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh/Exporting_a_mesh_from_Maya. No luck. In Maya, I get this error message when I Bind Skin: http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee485/Milla_Michinaga/BindPoseError.png - what is the bind pose and how do I add it? Has anybody been successful with uploading rigged mesh with Maya and Mac? Thanks, Milla
  11. Does it make a difference to bake from a nurb or a polygon? I keep crashing when I try to bake out my texture using my usual Turtle settings. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks, Milla

  14. In the middle of a project, my Extrude tool manipulators have suddenly disappeared. I'm referring to the handles that let you move and scale the newly extruded part. The extrustion still happens but I have to use the normal Move and Scale tools to make any changes and its just not as effective. Does anybody know how to get it back? Thanks.
  15. Wear the shirt with the prim attachments and then wear a full body alpha that will make your avatar invisible.
  16. Is there a way to make your sculpties tiny? Like for tiny prims? I need small details for a belt and they won't resize down to an appropriate size fitting of the design. Thanks :)
