  1. Like any new markets, it's always messy at the beginning. Also the cost of minting NFT filters out a lot of junks. The current NFT market now has a unique factor, there is a lot of crypto-rich people who bought crypto coins at the beginning when $100 of ETH is worth $1 million now. So, spending a few thousand dollars of ETH on NFTs for them is like a few bucks of their original cost.
  2. Currency (issued by governments or by private companies such as LL) is all about consent value, a group of people agrees that a specific object has certain value that can be used to trading goods and favors amount themselves. The same object has little or no value to people outside of the group. Linden is a perfect example, we all agree the value of Linden so we can buy stuff inworld. But Linden is worthless outside of SL. Same applies to all cryptos and their NFTs, except the two major crypto (Bitcoin and Eth) have tens of million of people agree their value. As for SL NFTs, I think there is an opportunity for LL to starts its own blockchain for inworld NFT, not for minting Lindens. Currently copybots can copy any objects which renders "rare" non-copy items meaningless. If a LL blockchain tokenized (minting NFT) a non-copy item, then in theory, LL could make SL to automatically delete pirated items that aren't tokenized. Then the item would truly be a one of kind in SL.
  3. Is it possible to delete specific contents by contents' name in an object/linkset via script? Given you are the owner of the object and object has copy and mod perm. Thanks.
  4. LL has changed the algorithm that isn't working right. Only one featured item on MP home page, something broke.
  5. I've noticed MP homepage's featured items listing isn't working right for adult maturity level. It's only showing 1 to 4 items the most, most of the time it's just 3 items with no scrolling buttons. All other maturity levels show at least 15 items. I'm using Win 10 Pro with current version of Firefox.
  6. Yes, that was it. I'll just let those ghost alts of mine retire on LL servers. Thanks all.
  7. They've been deleted a decade ago. I would look into viewer's chat history if I still have the old harddrives. Didn't LL say that they will start charging for idle accounts? I wonder how they are going to do that without violating TOS. No biggies, they were all business bots.
  8. Does LL provide a list of alts created with same email address? If they don't, then how do I find them? Thanks.
  9. As a man, I'm deeply offended by that remark. But is it a *****ty bottle though? Joke aside, digitizes anyone in real life into sex dolls without permissions and passes them around is no different than posting revenge porn, it should be illegal. All it takes is one nutjob to realizes there's a real person out there who looks exactly like his/her vr sex doll, things will not end will for that person.
  10. This article popped up while googling Second Life and Sansar https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/j5yzpk/they-cant-stop-us-people-are-having-sex-with-3d-avatars-of-their-exes-and-celebrities Interesting in a f'd up way...then again who am I to judge. Whatever floats their boats, I guess.
  11. Guilty as charged. All for "research" purpose.
  12. It must be, I didn't know there is one inworld.
  13. Shouldn't there be a rating control for Upcoming Events list on your dashboard web page? lol
  14. Oculus Quest is not an Android platform only device. It's capable of using PC power to run graphic intensive VR games via Oculus Link which essentially turn Quest into a Rift . So in theory, one could run Sansar with it. Don't quote me on it, ask LL. It's pretty amazing and ingenues how they make Oculus Link to work. All signs are pointing that Quest is the 2nd gen VR headset and Rift probably will be discontinued soon. Other VR Headsets makers will follow the Quest lead, if they're willing to pay for the patent loyalty. Personally, I'm waiting for them to resolve the screendoor issue.
  15. VR headset technology is still in the infancy stage. Current VR headsets are good enough to get a feel of its potentials, but not good enough for the mass. FB is in it for the long game, it has invested millions in R&D. This is probably the most interest thing came out of Oculus 6 conference, https://youtu.be/ybhYJ87U2Gs?t=597 SL is a VR world from the 90s online text chatrooms. Yes, you can look around SL with a VR headset, that's about it. You can hardly communicate with anyone, because most of SL users still use text message as means to communicate. You can't just pick up objects with your hands in SL neither. LL has done a great job bringing modern look to SL, but it's really one big 3D chatroom rather than a true VR world in today's standards. I think Sansar was created to address that, give users an immersed VR experience. Users in newer VR worlds like VRchat use mostly voice and actual hand gestures. It's probably a generation thing. What's the average age of SLers? 40s? Pretty soon AARP will start advertise in SL. 🤣
  16. I had the same reaction as yours about Wii's toony style when it first came out. It's not for me personally, but Wii has approved that toony style isn't that important as long as it delivers an immersed experience. The Toony style is probably optimized for Oculus Quest, a all-in-one VR headset that doesn't need a computer. One of the biggest challenges for all VR worlds is the high-end gaming hardware requirement that is out of budget for most of households. Oculus Quest is a game changer, capable of deliver VR experience without investing in new expensive hardware. It's currently priced at $400, Horizon could take off next year if the price drops to below $300. We shall see. There was an article a couple years ago about all the tech giants are betting on VR/AR platforms. Google has invested heavily in Magic Leap, it's just matter of time before some kinda G World be introduced to all the G accounts.
  17. https://techcrunch.com/2019/09/25/facebook-horizon/ It sounds interesting, but it's limited to Oculus platform only. While it looks great on computer monitors, the Oculus screendoor effect is a joy kill. I don't think LL has to worry about it...for now. Google is cooking its own VR platform, every VR company should be worry about that.
  18. Is LL planning on replacing all existing Linden Homes with the new ones? Or we have to signup for the new ones?
  19. Never heard of VRChat until you mentioned and just spent an hour there without VR goggles. It's pretty awesome. Thanks Cristiano!
  20. SL is the 2nd result when Google "virtual world", 1st is wikipedia on virtual world. I think that's why LL doesn't do much if any marketing for SL. SL is more like a 3D chatrooms than what most people think of virtual worlds. Almost all of communication are text based, people rarely use voice in local channel; which isn't a bad thing in some scenarios. But it's an odd "VR" experience for new comers when they find themselves in a popular sim where everyone just stands still because of lags and it's dead silence except for stream music. The topic of rebranding SL has been brought up many times, it's a no go for LL.
  21. Blender can do everything from 3D modeling, rigging, video editing and the list goes on and on, which why it's very difficult to learn; especially for people without formal training in arts/designs. The fundamentals of 3D modeling (specially polygonal modeling) are the same in every 3D modeling programs, extrusion, loft and sweep...etc. Each program executes the process slightly different from one and other. Each one also has a tone of additional tools for making complex models easier, thus learning curve is way steeper than 2D program like Photoshop. I think LL can do what Autodesk is doing with Maya LT , a simplified 3D modeling program that focuses on game content creations. But use Blender's opensource code and UI instead, keep it simple by providing just enough tools to learn the fundamentals of creating contents for game standard formats. And makes it super easy to test the creations in SL via direct upload and fee-free trial period. Use the same UI as Blender, it'll make transition to Blender seamlessly when they outgrown the simplified program. If it's done right, it can be the go-to program for learning 3D modeling and a training-wheel for Blender which is a fast growing community. It's a good way to market SL as a sandbox. One key advantage SL has over other sandbox like Unity and Unreal, is there's a vest world with active population outside of sandbox where one can socialize with others and see how their creations are being used. On the flip side, other sandboxes don't have the lag issues as SL's aging engine has. For any physic based creations, the lag is a deal breaker.
  22. Every SL competition big or small have came and went since 2004, naturally LL is pretty comfortable taking its time to improve SL while developing other projects. Sad to say that all LL's side projects have failed without exception, hopefully Sansar will be an exception. It's great LL is adding modern game features to SL while pushing the limits of its 2004 game engine. The aging game engine is the elephant in the room. I think LL tries to address it with Sansar, but kind of left SL residents behind. It's a tough situation for LL, how do you modernize an aging engine without breaking SL...
  23. The purpose of this post is to throw some ideas to LL and hopefully some would stick. There are no good or bad ideas, they are just ideas. Honestly what we think of each other's ideas really don't matter unless you're a Linden. That being said, it's great to bounce ideas of each others and provide insights to virtual world related information. For the drama seekers, please get your fix elsewhere.
