  1. Why do you care so much what other people wear and represent?  That's the beauty of Second Life isn't it?  To create and use endless freedom to be and do what we want?

I personally think the blog posts so far have all represented dynamically different fashion statements. Some a little eccentric and quirky, but isn't that what fashion is all about?  Wearing and doing what you want? If you don't like it, then you have the endless ability to wear and choose something else that you personally like better.

Oh the beauty of choices in life.

    Just my two cents.

  2. I very recently did a blog poll on my blog asking how many avatars you have in Second Life.  What are they used for? Etc... I think one of the best things about havin an avatar is the ability to have endless freedom in how you style and create it.

Do you have avatars for each specific style or do you tend to use one avatar and style it up with whatever mood that fits you?  I personally have 5 different avatars, and use them for fashion related or photography related reasons, as well as for some roleplay.

My blog poll is here if you are interested in casting your vote on it: http://www.harlowheslop.com/archives/2360

I'm mostly, just really interested in finding out how common it is to have multiple avatars in Second Life. Judging by the poll so far, surprisingly MOST people have numerous avies! :)

  3. For being what many call a "fashion blogger" I tend to keep pretty simple.  I like that "girl next door" simplicity with almost anything I wear on a daily basis.  I like a simple necklace, or a pair of earrings.  You will very rarely see me running around SL with a billion accessories attached to my avatar.  Simplicity can be key sometimes.  I do on occasion really love to glam it up and throw on a lot of items, but most of the time I keep it simple with one or two small accessories :)

  4. Mesh is my absolute favorite :)  I've had so much fun with it being incorporated into our Second Live's now.  I actually have a hard time wearing anything that isnt mesh nowadays.

One thing I'm still iffy about is mesh pants.  For some reason they just don't look quite right on my avatar, but shirts, sweaters, dresses, hair, accessories? GIMME!

  5. Some of my favorites include Caroline's Jewelry, Dark Mouse, Earthstones, KOSH, Concrete Flowers, and a few others.  There are so many fantastic Jewelry markers in Second Life.  I'm always impressed!

  6. Y'all have mentioned most of what I would have mentioned.  Koinup.com and SL's destination guide are my two favorite places.  I am also really appreciative of bloggers I admire who take the time to mention where they took photos at.  Word of mouth is one of the best ways to learn about new places popping up in SL. :)

  7. Great question Berry!

I personally thinkg mesh avatars are a lot of fun.  Are they something I'd use on a regular basis and sacrifice the unique look i've tried to create for myself? Probably not, but they are fun to experiment with on temporary occasions.  The endless possibilities that mesh is starting to offer is a lot of fun.  Maybe soon down the road we can have more mesh without sacrificing originality.

Just like you, I am very attached to Harlow's specific shape and look.  I cringe when I have to adjust a number one or two points on the appearance editor to fit into a top, let alone an entire shape! :)

  8. It depends what types of blogs you are looking for.  Are you looking for fashion blogs? Event blogs? A mix of stuff?  Technicaly geeky blogs?  There are all sorts of Second Life bloggers and Second Life websites out there, so it really comes down to what you specifically want to find. :)

  9. If you like Phoenix I strongly suggest upgrading to Firestorm.  It is created by the same people who created Phoenix.  It is a 2.0 viewer, but I encourage you to take the time to learn it. (Plus, 1.x viewers will eventually be obsolete so it's best to try and learn it now before you are forced to do so).  Once you do, you will find it's very easy to navigate, organized, and allows for multiple tattoo/clothing layers as well as many other REALLY helpful features.  It's found at phoenixviewer.com just like the phoenix viewer was.  I really love Firestorm!

    Best of luck! :)

  10. Unfortunately the lines are a glitch and difficult to get rid of, and most people taking photos WANT high res snapshots.  My suggestion is look up tutorials on how to remove them.  If you have editing programs you can find some amazing tutorials on youtube on how to remove/edit the lines.

I personally use the smudge tool in CS3 Adobe Photoshop to remove my lines.  You can find another great tutorial that covers a few versions of photoshop here:

I hope that at least helps! :)  If you don't have PS or can't afford it check out Gimp! It's free!

And if you don't care too much about high res, shoot no larger than your screen size resolution!

    Best of luck! <3

  11. I just think creators are being safe than sorry.  There are a lot of cheapskates out there that will wear a demo if the wording on the demo is subtle.  I see it happen all the time.  I am really appreciative of any designer who takes the time to make a demo, and if it's covered in demo marks and such then so be it.

One thing I do get frustrated by though, are demos that have a bunch of particles, flashy extras that create lag, or the big boxes around them that make it impossible to cam in to see the product.  I personally rather have the text all over the demo than those two other added frustrations!

But again, I'm just glad designers take the time to create the demos in the first place. :)

  12. Well, like I stated above, Truth has some of the best customer service in Second Life.  My assumption is that he simply didn't receive the message.  The joys of Second Life and technical glitches sometimes eh?  Sorry for your frustration! Hope you get your answer!

  13. I can definitely see how this is frustrating!  The bright side though, is mesh is VERY new and stll in development.  Many designers are sticking to the standard sizing, as well as only a few sizes until they truly get the hang of how mesh works and functions.  The deformer can also help, but I know it still has a few glitches as well.  Give it some time, I've seen more and more curvier items begin to make appearances, and I think in due time you'll have just as many choices as the less curvy avatars! :) Best of luck! <3
