To avoid such a problem, settings overrides (whatever the settings type, i.e. including presets), should go to the user_settings directory (%AppData%/Firestorm/user_settings under Windows)... I.e. Firestorm code needs fixing for this. 😛

We don't need to fix anything regarding the settings because user settings are already stored underneath the user's AppData folder. If hoewever the OP tries to dump files into the installation folder (or this Reshade thing does), then he needs to make sure to install it where the Windows UAC doesn't interfere with it!

    Nice try though! ;)

  2. It was never possible to click on the mini map to start tracking a location - I just checked with a really old version. You can start tracking by clicking on the world map and the tracked location will still be displayed in the mini map. (Your screenshot also shows the world map.)

Official site only shows previous 2-3 versions (Firestorm 6.4.21 64531 doesn't even have a Windows download link). Anyone know where I can find versions before that? One of these versions messed up the mesh uploader and I'm trying to see which older version I can install to avoid the issue.

Installing an older, unsupported version and hoping the issue will magically go away at some point without reporting the problem is a very brave strategy... 😂

this argument back and forth reminds me of the days I worked as a UI designer for a major corp - and how we would always kinda laugh when developers thought they could design a UI. Always turned out to be a UI only other developers would possibly understand

Funny thing is, as a RL developer, we always facepalm about the ideas of the UI/UX team because their ideas are often a "stylish regression and step back" because they have no idea of how the current applications are being used! But then I just don't care enough to emphasize the fundamental flaws in their design after giving them an initial feedback... 😂

I would have thought you of all people would understand that creating good art and being good with technology are two distinct skill-sets and that having one does not necessarily mean they have the other

Oh I had the common mesh creator in mind and if somebody is able to "create" meshes but not a rich-text manual, I would be a bit concerned about the quality of the mesh. ;)

The whole reason most creators distribute notecards with their products is they do not have the time, resources or technical skill necessary to set up a website and need a way to provide the user with a readme/manual, creators who already have websites already do this, so I don't see how this actually solves anything except make an existing workflow slightly prettier

Not sure if  I want a product of these skill-challenged creators at all then... ;)

  7. Maybe - if you want formatted text - host some RTF or PDF document somewhere and link it in the plain text notecard that is. Or link to some fance Wordpress blog or whatever. But requesting others to do something so you can have "fancy" plain text formatting is definitely not the solution to your problem.
