Issues with Reshade and Firestorm Viewer.
Ansariel Hiller replied to Velk Kerang's topic in Second Life Viewer
We don't need to fix anything regarding the settings because user settings are already stored underneath the user's AppData folder. If hoewever the OP tries to dump files into the installation folder (or this Reshade thing does), then he needs to make sure to install it where the Windows UAC doesn't interfere with it! Nice try though! -
Issues with Reshade and Firestorm Viewer.
Ansariel Hiller replied to Velk Kerang's topic in Second Life Viewer
If you installed it into the Windows default location for applications (C:\Programs), you will need Administrator priviledges to write into those folders. Try installing it in a different location. -
It was never possible to click on the mini map to start tracking a location - I just checked with a really old version. You can start tracking by clicking on the world map and the tracked location will still be displayed in the mini map. (Your screenshot also shows the world map.)

Where are the older Firestorm releases?
Ansariel Hiller replied to MelodicRain's topic in Second Life Viewer
Installing an older, unsupported version and hoping the issue will magically go away at some point without reporting the problem is a very brave strategy... 😂 -
New Firestorm Version September 2022
Ansariel Hiller replied to arabellajones's topic in Second Life Viewer
Funny thing is, as a RL developer, we always facepalm about the ideas of the UI/UX team because their ideas are often a "stylish regression and step back" because they have no idea of how the current applications are being used! But then I just don't care enough to emphasize the fundamental flaws in their design after giving them an initial feedback... 😂 -

Can't Rez Coalesced Object. Why?
Ansariel Hiller replied to Jennifer Boyle's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
Try it in a different spot on the parcel. Maybe it's going past your parcel boundaries from where you try to rez it. -

Don't bash on the Firestorm fan jackets! I told Jessica numerous times to release an updated collection for mesh bodies! 😁 -

...and if you download within the next 24 hours, you not only get one download - no! You get a second download completely for free! But wait! There is more! You also receive this multi-purpose Dayturn fan-shirt on top! 😏 -
Request/Suggestion to all TPV creators
Ansariel Hiller replied to Phil Deakins's topic in Second Life Viewer
Oh I had the common mesh creator in mind and if somebody is able to "create" meshes but not a rich-text manual, I would be a bit concerned about the quality of the mesh. -
New griefing tactic: how to solve?
Ansariel Hiller replied to Quistess Alpha's topic in Second Life Viewer
Shameless promotion: Of course that is an additional option in Firestorm - it just wasn't mentioned here. 😛 -

Not sure if I want a product of these skill-challenged creators at all then... -

Maybe - if you want formatted text - host some RTF or PDF document somewhere and link it in the plain text notecard that is. Or link to some fance Wordpress blog or whatever. But requesting others to do something so you can have "fancy" plain text formatting is definitely not the solution to your problem. -

Firestorm - vertical glowing line artifacts ?
Ansariel Hiller replied to Bronsin Dakota's topic in Second Life Viewer
I would update the driver first and then check again. Most current driver version is 516.94, you are using 512.59. -

Linden Performance viewer and Texture thrashing
Ansariel Hiller replied to Frederika Rayna's topic in Second Life Viewer
Read - Think - Write! I am pretty sure I was talking about available VRAM, not total physical VRAM. Latter is easy, former is not. Since only nvidia is offering an OGL extension for that (with the exception of ancient ATI GPUs), you will have to use a platform-specific solution to reliably determine the amount of available VRAM. Windows API offers a pretty good solution to this, the OSX solution LL came up with looks a bit like "guess and hope for the best" approach to me. And for Linux, LL made - oh wait! LL hasn't been supporting for years now. But pretty sure they will come up with a solution for Linux - NOT! As for other games: They have pretty much full control of what is going to be rendered and the VRAM needed for textures is commonly determined by the detail level of the textures. Thus the max. amount of VRAM needed for textures is pretty much fixed and known beforehand. Also, they usually assume the needed VRAM is actually available. If it's not, expect random crashes of random applications - not necessarily the game actually allocating more VRAM than available.
