  1. Please don't. I didn't read any of this thread, but we're already just... a gajillion servers ruining the planet, just as SL alone, if we add blockchain to that, we might as well ***** in our ozone layer directly. THE CLIMATE CONTROVERSY SWIRLING AROUND NFTS
  2. Also, this magical blockchain? Yeah, it's just a whole ton of servers whirring. So, ya know... THE CLIMATE CONTROVERSY SWIRLING AROUND NFTS enjoy.
  3. Some people are a special kind of dense. @Patch Linden Sorry about your monday, man
  4. Actually, reason I called on Patch is because 2 pages in I was already reading ad hominem attacks, and, surprisingly, I learned from my mistakes. GROWTH! And know that that doesn't fly here. Secondly, yeah, this is just a rehash topic for the sake of, well... rehashing. Rehashing stuff that got a whole thread locked, yeah. And also, once again, it's hypothesizing about what actually happened and fearmongering about why it happened and what might happen next. Consider staying in your consumerist lane and waiting for the powers that be to make decisions (like banning gachas), rather than trying to constantly rile folks up into a frenzy. But I'm not talking to anyone in particular here, I mean this to the whole community. Please. Chill.
  5. Well then. Gachas bad. Whataboutism bad. Conveyor belts not a solution and, also bad. Err... gosh, really wish I had my previous posts to see what points I was making.
  6. Except, ya know, it isn't? Those tactics aren't being banned, they're not under fire, not by anyone but you. Your reasoning seems to be "If everything is bad, it loses its meaning and thus everything is good again, including gachas" And while impressive hoop-jumping, good god is it nonsense.
  7. It's whataboutism because you are diverting from the issue of gachas and instead trying to make it about all problematic sales tactics. Which, ya know, is an issue. Sure. Just not the issue here. I'm not promoting a double standard, I'm stating a thing is bad. That does not mean the other thing is NOT bad, it just has *****all to do with it.
  8. Just because you can't discern quality from an ad and misbuy does not mean that seller is using predatory behavior. Also, whataboutism.
  9. Oh, and conveyors are a dumb propagation of the existing gacha system intended to skirt the rules as lightly as possible to keep a failing economy of false scarcity intact. Shame on yall who think it's the solution.
  10. I made a gacha once. Very early on. I really enjoyed the continuous dinging of small amounts of L$ being deposited into my account. It was addictive. Every day it was out, I'd sit there and wait for a whale to come by and just drop 5k on it. It rocked. That was also when I decided to never again make a gacha. The second one user shoved 10K L$ into my machine within 20 minutes. It was 50L$ a play, to clarify. That was not something I could accept, morally. I gave them 5k back and handed them the rare. As a customer, I've seen gachas of all kinds come and go and some are very worth it and very unique. But most gachas? They're cashgrabs with very little to no value if you only get one of the items, they are only worth it if you play the thing to get a set or if you get the rare. Consumers are dumb, as a whole, not individually, and need to be protected from themselves. Hence governmental control on gambling. And that includes me, I'm a sucker for a good gacha, or anything addictive really. Some people aren't and I am so happy for them. But their joy shouldn't supercede my protections. As a creator, defending this predatory behavior has and will continue to sicken me. These are your customers. Treat them with care and respect, you wouldn't be here without them. Instead of trying to leech them dry still. And all these points have been made. And I add nothing new. But at least I'm on topic, right?
  11. Hi everybody. I just want to say how impressed I am that everyone is remaining civil. That none of this has devolved into massive political issues. It's just so impressive. I'm also really impressed by how well everyone is taking it and realizing how possibly damaging all this was and how accepting everyone is of the new policy. It's just so nice to really see the community come together like this, in a time of stress and turmoil, to support all the creators in adapting to this new world. And not complaining about losing their underpaid products. I'm also really glad nobody on here is speculating about all the reasons this might be happening, nor inciting fear about the future of SecondLife. I hope we can all be this civil and wonderful all the time. /sarcasm
