  1. Sorry for necro posting. This issue is still active and happening in the current SL viewer Second Life Release 6.6.12.579987 (64bit) as of today 6/13/2023.

I was waiting to receive a group invite to an official SL group; unfortunately the invite was sent to me offline which resulted in me searching finding this thread and reading through the Jira linked above.

  2. Mainland for sale - Info below

    • Must be a Secondlife Plus, Premium, or Premium Plus member to purchase mainland.
    • Land is located on Simulator 'Gertrude' which is part of the Nautilus continent.
      • Terraforming : The land on Gertrude has preset rolling hills which cannot be flattened. They can be raised and terraformed but will retain the sloped shape of the sim's mapping.
      • Land can be split into smaller parcels or is ideal for setting up skybox rentals.
      • There are 5 parcels on this simulator that do not belong to me (pictured below in red), please do not disturb them.
    • Land is currently split into 2 parcels (51,072 sqm & 8,832 sqm) due to a rental on the smaller parcel.
      • (51,072 sqm / 17,534 Prims) for $61,286L - Available now, right click land in-world to purchase.
      • (8,832 sqm / 3,032 prims) for $10,598L - Available on Jan 27. Will reserve sale to same person that purchases the larger parcel if interested.
        • Please feel free to take a look from ground level; do not disrupt the current occupant.

Please post your questions here or reach out via private community messages. I do not receive in-world offline IMs, and I am not in-world often.

I originally purchased this land with the intent to redevelop it into a community hangout small beach shopping center, but unfortunately did not have the time or resources to have this idea come to fruition.

  3. Thanks Cindy! I'm aware of all the mainstream events/hunts. I have a great bulky list to start off, but in conjunction with mainstream SL, I'm additionally looking for lesser known creators and startups.

Over the past year, I continuously see the same male fashion creators in every event. Although those better known shops may still be included in the database, I'm also looking for lesser known creators/shops.

    I appreciate your feedback!

  4. First off, if this is not the right place for this, please let me know!

    Hi everyone!

I'm conducting research to create a database of male businesses in Secondlife.

In 2010, I had created a notecard of landmarks to hundreds of male stores that were my favorites in SL - I found over the years that many of these stores closed.

Present day, I'm finding it more and more difficult to find quality male clothing. The marketplace is saturated with female items, and it sometimes takes a while to find a single piece for an outfit I'm putting together. I imagine I'm not the same person in this situation, and I wanted to create a place to easily search male shops that exist either in-world and on the marketplace.

If you have a few minutes, I've created a survey to start this project.

Or if you'd rather comment below, please tell me your thoughts on your favorite male shops in SL!

  5. Yes! Welcome to SL Photography!

The primary factors for beautiful SL Photography (in my opinion) is your computer's capability and your viewer.

If youre shooting people, I'd suggest looking into the pose world. I havent used poses for a long while (and usually the people I shoot are using their own poses). Landscapes are easier because you don't have a 2nd party to coordinate with.

I'd suggest to start by playing heavily with your graphics preferences and windlight settings.

  6. This would really depend on the media source you're trying to view, but it's never failed for me to set up a single prim as a URL source for youtube and a few other media websites. It would just take just a little bit of coordination with your viewers to all turn their media on/ be media capable. You can enable a surface via your land settings or just create a stand-alone prim with one face able to view web. Of course depending on everyone's internet connection, their viewer settings, their personal computer capability and your sim's health, there may always be just a few seconds of delay (I've found between 1-5 seconds) but I've always been able to watch youtube videos this way with my friends without having to buy a SL "tv" (if those still exist?)

I'm happy to show you in-world; just reach out if this is what youre looking for. My text explanation seems confusing to me but I tried. :(

  7. To me, it looks like the skin itself is textured that way, where the underside of the arms are shaded darker (since when arms are usually down, shadows are casted from your pits down).
I'd try skins from other creators! If you need some references to some great skins shops I'd recommend stray dog or avenge (Of course it depends on the body you have ^_^ ).

  8. This happened to me actually a few nights ago trying to get a skin for my new mesh head. - but the difference between you and I, was that I could see my issue.
My issue (not sure if its the same as yours) was the layer the skin was applying to on the head.

I solved it by first putting an entirely different skin applier on my head - to give a blank slate to start with, then applied the skin I wanted. It does look like (in your images) that you have a skin applied to the bottom, and the top half has the base skin.

Not sure which head you have but maybe try resetting your layers on your mesh head to all default and work from there?

Hope you figure it out! There are lots of great posts above mine that've mentioned it might not be your head at all, but your friend's viewer settings and level of graphics. Take all those posts into consideration before you stress about your avi that may just display perfectly fine. :)

  9. I'm looking for a few people to take pictures of.

I used to do a lot of SL photography in late 2009 but fell out of it once the studio I was a part of went under. I am looking for a few individuals to take some snaps of for some photoshop processing so I can have some fairly new 'examples' of work.

I'd like to take pictures of a male avatar, female avatar and possibly a couple. This is 3 images.

I'd love you to have a year or two under your belt in SL and not look too default.

This is an unpaid lab experiment, but I'll give you your processed pictures when they're all done.

Please reply to this post if you're interested, along with 3 of your most favorite colours. :P

A forum moderator is confused and moved this to 'Inworld Employment' instead of 'Wanted'.

Again: This is not an employment opportunity and you will not be paid for your time.

  10. Haha I know exactly what you are talking about!!!!!

It's actually a secondlife style fad that's become very popular lately. With the large pouty frowning lips and the bodies with the very boyish curves though with the large hips/rear.Something like this

much like this, from the marketplace... if I understand correctly:

Its just a fashion fad thats branched off the 'elf' look that's been around for quite a while.

  11. I would suggest Oracul, but thats been done already.

I would also suggest a shop called Random Kitten, they are comparable to oracul, same quality in my opinion, just a tad more $L but better than paying over $1000L+

Or you can get a blank hud and go to both of these stores and fill up your AO with animations of your choice. The possibilities are endless!

    :)

  12. Sometimes the reason for clothing or skins not loading varies.

The way I usually solve this issue, is I take off a piece of clothing, usually undershirt, shirt or jacket layer. This will force your avatar to rebake. It works 100% of the time for me, but it may be different for you. I would try out what Peewee has suggested if all else fails. :)

  13. Oh my! I Bolded everything that wasn't me blabbering!

I JUST got done doing this for our store actually, noticing it as well. If your items are general in nature, and marked moderate, I'm not sure if a lot of people know, but when marked moderate or adult they are no longer viewable by the public. (Meaning if they are not logged in, they can't see what you sell!)

I thought the marketplace was broken as well, and fiddled around with it for quite sometime until I actually took a moment to look at what it was telling me. After trying to change a product to general, and hitting save, it will bring you to your inventory list, and a red (or is it green, i cant remember) bar will be near the top of your inventory list explaining which field makes your item unable to be marked general. For example, I was trying to make a static couples pose general, and after hitting save, the announcement said something along the lines of "Your item's maturity setting is unable to be changed due to the Description field"

So look for that notice, and see what it is telling you!

Usually certain keywords either in the description or tags will set this off. For example, the word 'gor' was in my description, simply stating that "we sell other poses, fun, playful, gor, sexy, and more!" not even describing the item, and it automatically gets marked moderate for that word being in there.

Double and triple check your descriptions. If you are using any 'moderate' or 'adult' themed terms or phrases, this may immediately mark your item as such. Look them over, even the smallest of words you wouldnt think are so bad may be keywords for getting your items marked with a different mature rating!
