    Viewer 2.4 Released!

    2.4:

Textures still rez faster with my old SnowGlobe (and 1.23).

Interface is much more annoying with 2.4, usually requiring more clicks to do what used to take 1 or 2

I LOSE INVENTORY WHEN I USE 2.4. Why would I use a viewer that, in effect, eats my money?

Chat is more difficult to read in 2.4 (but thanks for the new window transparency options).

The sidebar... worst thing ever created in SL.  Wait, it's a tie with Display Names.

2.4 crashes occasionally... SnowGlobe is rock solid.

So... why the heck would I use 2.4? I won't, ever again. Thank god for Kirsten's viewer, SnowGlobe, and 1.23.  I'm sure Phoenix is nice, but after the Emerald fiasco I stay away from those developers (no offense to the thousands who love and use Phoenix.. I'm just cautious).

Please, please kill the 2.x project.  Start over, with SnowGlobe or something stable as a starting point. And listen to what people dislike (um, hate) about 2.4 here.  There is so little to love about it.

    Viewer 2.4 Released!

After losing inventory to 2.2 and 2.3, I'll stick with an older Snowglobe viewer. It has never failed me, and is very stable. Bring back SnowGlobe development, please!  I will never use 2.x unless I am forced to. At which time I will abandon SL, unless 2.x ever looks and functions as well as the older viewers.

But... thanks for the transparancy/color options, and the external LSL editing options. Even though I won't be using them.  I'm not a hater, but I'll let other people keep testing these "betas" until hopefully LL starts paying attention to the problems reported here. (Oh well, a girl can dream).

Could we just kill 2.x and start work on 3.0 ? Lord knows there are thousands of user suggestions and bug reports to start from.

  1. I couldn't have said it any better than that.

I'm spending more time in  OpenSim worlds than in SL now.

Apparently these forums are merely something for us to entertain  ourselves with. I've been in SL 4 years, but it sometimes seems the  powers that be stopped listening to residents (and these forums) around 2008.

DISPLAY NAMES:  Didn't ask for it, didn't get to vote on it... and it's completely useless to me. And it can cause confusion for some people. I'll simply turn this "feature" off, permanently.

VIEWER 2.x:  Not only did I not ask for it, it degrades my SL experience. It's good for causing a headache, and that's about it. I'm glad a few people supposedly like it, but I only have one friend who claims to like & use 2.x. I'm sticking with any viewer other than 2.x.

I stay in SL (less and less) only because of some great friends and the fun of helping people, and scripting. Things could be much, much better, though.

  2. I've been a SL user for over 4 years. I use SL for both work and play. Mostly, I script.

I love change, when it's for a good reason. I love trying new things. But...

In my opinion, LL Viewers 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3 just plain suck. I despise them, and only use 2.3 only for testing, and I hate doing even that. Mostly I use a previous (April 2010) version of SnowGlobe, which rocks.

Kirsten's Viewer is a bit of an improvement over LL's 2.3, if you simply must have something all fancy looking. And it's more stable than 2.3, with some bonus features.

If LL ever _forces_ me to use 2.x crap, I'll probably quit SL and move to OpenSim, where I already am anyways. Out of all the good, bad, and ugly changes in SL over the past 2 years, 2.x is by far the WORST.

Please, LL, drop the 2.x project. I and 96% of my SL friends despise it and avoid it like the plague.

And, btw, Display Names... completely useless feature, in my opinion. I don't need even more float text on the screen, or identity confusion. I'd rather have better search and all the other fixes we've been asking for...for years.

My perfect viewer would be SnowGlobe (previous version) with the new tattoo layers feature added.
