Guessing a bit here but check to see if your hard disk is being heavily accessed ( a lot more than usual) during the 3 minute slow down. Might be a memory issue and your page file is thrashing about a bit.

Amazing contrast in the tone of the comments in comparison to when 2.0 came out. If only LL had listened to the beta testers in the beginning this is probably the viewer they would have ended up with as 2.0 and saved us all a whole load of drama.
