Actions speak louder then words. :^) Several pages of people not being able to tell the difference child avatar and an anime avatar head for instance, which I'm sure you were a participant in. Page 96 for example someone saying that a picture that someone posted of a girl with bunny ears "body looks like a twelve year old with bewbs", being clearly an petite adult body. I'm not scouring 97+ pages of a multi-day discussion to find more examples. "Sorry." Some people in here, not necessarily you, have incredibly strange idea's what constitutes as a young av. So I wouldn't trust their judgement, like at all. Sorry, not sorry.

I also feel the winds of corpo sterilization and gentrification coming to appeal to, and I hate using this word, however, a broader facebook tier normie audience. Make it all appear all squeaky clean on the surface level like meta and some other competing virtual worlds. I pray I'm wrong, but it's not the first time something like that has happened. At one point there was a pretty big attempt to sweep adult content to a quiet corner of the grid on a restricted continent, sweeping it under the rug as the say.

Oh they are keeping an eye on what happens. But they aren't expecting much so they are mostly tapping out of SL for the time being.

A couple of people in my social circles are already packing up and moving on unless something changes. They have zero interest in starting from scratch.

Your comparing items becoming obsolete due to the march of time over years to forced compliance with a penalty of banning for non-compliance on short notice, in some cases with the need to replace the entire avatar and it's wardrobe. You also still have the ability to access and use the stuff in your inventory, besides the rare broken item, they won't. Not everyone will be able to afford to replace their avatars. SL is becoming a luxury that is getting increasingly hard to justify in today's economy. Nor will everybody want to, why would someone spend a bunch more money on a company that effectively just robbed them of years of time and investment? I wouldn't.

To me one particular problem stands out from all this: There is literally no difference between abuse reporting someone not wearing/overriding a modesty layer, and abuse reporting someone not wearing a BOM cover layer. The end result is the same. The only difference is that the modesty layer will require people to get rid of their old stuff that can't be compliant due to circumstances like the creator not being around anymore. Forcing people to not use/trash stuff they have had for years and payed money for due to circumstances outside of their control does not sit well. The "Modesty Layer" rule quite frankly sounds like lip service, that's going to end up costing quite a few people a lot of investment.

If I learned anything in my long time in SL, witnessing the first ***play scare, the second ***play scare(electric boogaloo) and the "Broadly offensive content" scare is that the guilty will lay low until the witch hunts are done, and scandal posts are done, and then eventually they will go back to business as usual. The innocent party getting to suffer the brunt of the decisions/consequences.

Just casually drop a bunch of money replacing years of content. Simple.

A couple of kid body makers haven't been seen in SL for a a long time, one of these bodies being incredibly expensive body. These bodies and associated clothing/accessories may never be updated to be compliant. I really hope LL factors that they may be forcing people to throw hundreds of dollars of body, accessories, clothing, skins in the trash into their final decision. A handful of people I know are potentially quitting for this very reason. I know I wouldn't stick around either if I was forced to get rid of an avatar I've worn everyday and it's associated monetary costs because of something I had nothing to do with. Hell, the amount of money I've spent on Legacy and Maitreya clothing and accessories over the years is easily in the thousands. Not to mention mesh heads. And niche bodies like anime bodies. Also the years of pre-mesh body content. If I lost/was forced to get rid of any of that I'd quit in a heartbeat.

That is what the user I'm arguing with is try to suggest and justify. A wholesale ban from moderate regions. That consists of most of the mainland, and most of the grid including most PG content sims. (The disneyland sim being an example of PG content)

That's fine. Child avatars shouldn't go onto private land featuring risque or harder content. Land owners can dictate who they want on their private land, this was always allowed. But a blanket ban on moderate land entirely like Zaleficent is suggesting? Actual madness. Even that disney sim that is for SLkids and their families is classified as moderate. Not to mention the majority of the SL mainland is classified as moderate.

Yeah I wish these forums had a dark mode. Even with insanely big bold text this burns out my retina's. Wasn't so bad when I was on my cellphone earlier but sitting here on my computer it's like oh my god it burns.

LL would ban child avatars from moderate regions if they wanted them banned, they do not. LL says your talking out of your arse. :^)

Neat, still doesn't justify your desire to see thousands of paying adult customers banned from accessing the majority of the product they pay for though.
