  1. London. November 3, 2014.

The United Kingdom lies in ruins. The after-effects of the All Saints Rebellion persist thoughout the British Isles. The countryside has been laid waste everywhere. Fires are still burning out of control in all the major cities. There is no governance; the population (that portion of it which survived the preceeeding days) is left to fend for itself. Bands of zombies roam the streets everywhere, and the sounds of explosions near and far are  constant.

It is believed those Members of Parliament who survived the initial attack have gathered somewhere in the East End, possibly in the cellar beneath the ruins of Christ Church.

What the future holds is unknown.

Welcome to SL. I have thrown far more than my fair share of bombs, blasted people to smithereens with my brace of Beretta 9mm automatics, and generally been a menace to society from time to time. No reason you can't find a way to indulge yourself. :-)

/me tosses you a penny for the Guy.

If you can read it with ease as fast as reading normaly your brain is running about 50% faster than those that can't.

I don't think it has to do with brains working faster. My experience was much like irihapeti's: I think I may have gone a little slow at the start but by the middle I was reading at my normal speed without thinking about it.

I'd not be surprised to learn that 55%/45% figure might be a bit overstated. Maybe they just let people look and the ones who said, "That's gibberish" were counted as unable to read it. I think anyone who reads a lot of english language text would probably be able to work through it if they were willing to spend the effort (or play along, which is what all of us were doing).

English is not only my first language, it's my only one. I have spent my whole life reading, to the point where people who know me expect to find me with 'my nose in a book'. If I go to jury duty or the airport or anyplace I expect to have to spend time just standing/sitting around I take a book with me. I suppose I'll cave in and go kindle or e-reader du jour at some point but I'm still working with books. Point is, I read a LOT. I think the fact I know English and I am so used to seeing words as words makes it easy for me to parse that gibberish (which it clearly was).

The first/last thing matters too. When I was in classes in which we had to take notes (as in, writing with primitive graphite or ink devices on paper: o the heroism!) I learned to abbreviate by leaving out vowels. So, "Clmbs arrvd smwhr nr Trndd 1498" would mean, "Columbus arrived (that would actually mean "made landfall') somewhere near (as in possibly at the island of) Trinidad in 1498". BTW I just made that whole scenario up. For all I know, Columbus was back in Spain for all of 1498. My shorthand makes perfect sense to me, but one of its keys is that it always contains the first and last (non-silent) letter. I'm used to translating that, which gives even more of a head start on tht gbbrsh bk thr.

  3. I'm pretty inconsistent, I think. I have one rule I follow most of the time but it's strictly my own rule. If I'm referencing the title of a movie or book in its full form I'll use double quotes, as in "The Bridge on the River Kwai", but if I'm talking about the subject later in the discussion and want to use a shortened version I'll use singles as in 'Bridge'.

The rest of the time I probably use doubles when it's something I really think is important and singles if not so much. Like I said. Inconsistent.

For starters before you try and make it to be something it's not.

    1) I haven't been around to comment on the posts because of real life.

    2) If you were in the CasperTech User Support group, you'd know that the person who had this happen was ηιɔкч ηªõкι ςяυsн (nickyminaj). My name isn't that... so no.. it's not a case of me saying "my friend, or such and such" to cover up that it's me. I'm a compeltely different person lols.

    3) Also it's not hearsay. There's a chat log & screenshot of the situation. While it wasn't involving me directly, as a store owner, I do ask out of curiosity because if these boards pose and issue, then everyone needs to be made aware.

    4) Casper Warden was made aware by his own staff about the situation; and also commented on the post previously with his own bit of input.

    Thanks.

Okay, thanks. There is a lot of stuff posted about here in the forum that many people suspect didn't really happen, hence the skeptism. I withdraw the questions.

OP's story is that this was about the skilled gaming policy, not the wagering one. My money's on somewhere between the telphone game and fairy tale.

I agree. The OP, who made the starter post and one more, twenty minutes later, said this:

"I'm curious if anyone else has had this

Someone who had an MM board out in their store, got it returned by a Gov, and told that it was against the skilled gaming policy and that they've been wanred and not to use it.

Since MM boards don't require you to pay... but merely TP and slap a board = no skill required unless TPing to places requires alot of skill (LOL!) and by definition; according to LL... "

So okay, it's common for people to post tales about things that have happened to them personally but use, "my friend", or "someone I know" just to cut down on the BS (does not ever work, but it's done just the same). Still, taken at face value the OP is reporting something he or she heard from someone else, not something he or she experienced.

Given the complete lack of response to even one of the many relevant questions that have been asked since this thread opened, I'd say all that's here is some possible hearsay.

It did serve to bring up some interesting possibilities regarding how the new gaming rules affect MM boards (as in the one where only one winner is chosen from those who touched the board) but I think it started with air.

also a key logger, can be downloaded to you if you click on a link in game, that is being used by key logger to trap you.

This line is telling. Sounds to me like the OP clicked on a link that took him outside of SL.  Once you are on your external web browser (Mozilla/Chrome/IE/etc) all bets are off. Like the links you see ingame to something on the MP then have a link that has altervista or starts with http rather than https, etc. Those take you to a page that looks like an SL sign in page..As we know, those are spoofed pages and you've just given a phisher your password and user name.

Don't blame SL or LL for what happens when you click a link that takes you to your external browser and then you download something from there. That's all on you. It's not from accepting a friend request or anything else like that. You've fallen for a hacker bait. The keylogger/malware/whatever did NOT come from SL but from an external site that you voluntarily logged in to then accepted a program with the keylogger or gave them your SL info. Your problem, not LL.

As for the sim crashing...typical griefing. They can use invisible prims that your graphics program still has to deal with that can overload the sim prim limit and cause it to crash. Same thing can be done with replicating prims, the most popular being 10 meter cubes with porn on them. Again, not a hacker, just a place that hasn't taken the basic precaution of using autoreturn.

    Bobbie, Bobbie, Bobbie.

    You don't understand.

Jeffrey coulda had class. He coulda been a contender. He coulda been somebody.

It was LL, Bobbie. LL made it possible for Jeffrey to see links to click on. Links that any reasonably observant twelve-year-old would think dodgy at best.

    It was LL.

    Edited to add:

Well, shoot. If nobody noticed my "On The Waterfront" rewrite I guess I'll just make you watch the original. For the record, I don't think Jeffery1 is a 'bum'.

  7. I'd never heard of Pentadee but since you asked so reasonably (there've been some rather unreasonable rants in this thread) I decided to take a quick look.

You're in luck. It's made by the same company that makes Greedy Greedy, and they do have an upgraded version that can NOT be set for 'pay to play' and thus avoids coming under the Skill Gaming rules. They also state that upgrades are free to anyone who owns a table. The directions for getting all that done are in this wiki: http://karstenrutledge.com/wiki/index.php?title=Pentadee .

ps: That company probably writes the clearest and most complete explanations and instructions I've ever seen from any SL creator or merchant. I think I should buy something from them just to support their work.

It's not a complete derail, either. Seller's character's sexual success is based on making the women he desires feel desireable. Tell someone they are "lovely," and they will be believe it, because they want to believe it. I think we are shaped by the perceptions, and opinions, of others in this way in all kinds of different regards.

Works both ways or maybe all ways, as you suggested. In a scene from the movie i played earlier, one of the female stars says to one of the male leads something very much like this: "You know, when the light hits you a certain way.....you're almost handsome."

I know a guy who heard that, in fact he heard it from the girl who was with him watching the movie. Got right to him.

I could NOT find the line repeated, which is a damned shame. Here's the guy in question (and yes, I know, it didn't matter a bit which way the light hit him). Song done by Manfred Mann, although a vastly superior version was released a year later by 'Love'. Written, incredibly enough, by Burt Bacharach.

  9. LaskyaClaren wrote:

Hmmm. Or this might be even more appropriate?

LOL. Perfect, even if it is a slight derail. Or maybe not:  you are the OP, after all. The thread is yours to do with as you wish. It is entirely up to you to determine the warp and the woof.

I might have said 'woof' when Goldie Hawn stuck her tongue out.

Interestingly, the way I've measured my success at being a better "me" is by the way others have responded to that presentation.

    is way deep this

    sooo

you can be me if you like

lots of people want to me. Like heaps of them. They say it all the time. Gosh!! why I cant i just be like you. All the time

is bc I am pretty. Like way pretty. way way. I cant help it. I was just born that way. So is not my fault

only people who dont want to be like me are them who just jealous. Is not their fault either that. They was just born like that as well

sometimes some people be mean to me and say I am shallow. But I just smile back at them bc they just jealous and like I say already is not their fault bc they was born like that. So I am be generous to them less blessed and less pretty than me and not think bad of them

    (:

Do you have to keep bringing this up every single time?

We get it, okay? You're way way way way pretty! It's true. You're prettier than everybody! You're prettier than anybody can even imagine!

    Enough with reminding us, already.

ps: I am not jealous. At all.

Thank you for pointing that out. All this time I thought it was me who was having trouble focusing on that badge. Now I see it could be Laskya's issue. Things like this are so much easier to deal with when it's someone else's fault.

  12. I so love when people refer to people not of their particular clique as "the masses". That made your post even more ludicrous than it would have been on its own merits.

As a member of said masses, my opinion is that I don't give a rat's a$$ what you vamps do as long as you don't bother me with it.

    1) Followed that video and I only have 1 option in the devises which is my gpu so I'm presuming there is no intergrated graphics, and if there are it must be under something els?

    2) I brought the unit from PC world.

    3) It only has one HDMI port on the tower and that's what i'm using.

Okay, then it looks like all the suggestions about possible issues with integrated aka onboard graphics adaptors were not helpful. Would have been nice to know all that upfront, thus saving these people trying to help the trouble. You can now safely assume that's not your issue.

  14. For crying out loud, haven't you ever heard of Google? Fourth link down on my search results for 'disabling integrated graphics' was this:

    ETA...

There are just too many unanswered questions.

Did you install the Nvidia card yourself or was it in the PC when you bought it?

If the latter, you should check with whoever you bought the PC from. If the former, you would have had instructions on how to do all the needed things about integrated graphics.

Are you sure your monitor is connected to the video port of your Nvidia card and not the VGA port of the onboard graphics (I'm already assuming there IS onboard graphics since you never answered that question either way)? Most MB's have it.

In short, you really need to start from scratch. Your rig, as described, should run SL just fine even at high graphics settings. The card is very low on the 700 series totem pole but is still better than lots of cards that run SL no problem. If you're not seeing those results, you need to investigate on your own, with or without professional help.

I'm not making any claims to the original story. I don't KNOW if LL banned for age, height, or whatever. All I know is someone got "reported" for Ageplay when wearing a Kemono avatar with adult Kemono gear, and was banned. I don't KNOW the reason why she was banned. I asked if she was my avatars height and the person said yes, which leads to my dilema.

Actually, you don't KNOW if anyone got banned at all. In your OP you said you were told by someone you know that someone else was reported for ageplay (by, of course, another 'someone else') because she was wearing a Kemono avatar and subsequently banned from SL by Linden Lab.

In short, an absolute mountain of completely non-verifiable hearsay. So it's a non-starter for me.

That being said, your avatar looks like a boy less than ten years old. You can expect trouble if you are doing sexual activities. Doesn't matter what you think. You look like a little kid. Don't bother wailing that the only other option is musclebound giant because that's a load of BS.

  16. You'll have to forgive me mentioning this, Nefertiti, but that's extremely non-nefarious of you.

Jinny, I'm in California, can burn the CD and do the express mail or UPS Next Day that's already been suggested so shoot me a PM here if you need a fall-back plan.

And, my condolences. You've got a lot of personal strength do so something like this. Couldn't have been easy.

  17. Now I worry that  you don't really get the big picture. You were not thinking of including vamprires? Are you kidding? Look at the makeup and hairdo's on these chicks and tell me they don't care about shoes!

Maybe I had the wrong nation in mind with the 'naught'. It's hard to keep track of what words work in the other countries that speak a language similar to mine.

You might be right about the naughtical, though (you might be right about the naughty, too, but there's just NO way I'm going there; I'm teetering on the edge of a perma-ban as it is). I think maybe even naughtical can transcend these little differences in what was supposed to be a common language.

I mean, aboard ship all those naughtical (I know, sp) terms are probably shared across all the language variants.  When someone in a position of authority (that is, anyone who outranks you personally even if it is ever so slightly) screams, "Belay that, damn your eyes!" the message is undoubtedly clear to all those who consider one of the forms of English to be a mother tongue.

Sometimes even with the shared language the meaning can be a bit unclear, explanatory notes notwithstanding.

"Stand by to take in the lower stun'-sail!".  Man the clewline, sheets, and inner halliards, have hands by the outer halliards and outhaul.

"Ease away the outhaul! CLEW UP!" The outhaul being let go, the clew is hauled up to the yard. Then,

"Lower away, HAUL IN!". Ease off the outer halliards, and haul in on the inner halliards, sheet, and clewline. When the sail is inboard and over the forecastle:

"Lower away the inner halliards! ". The sail being down, make it up. To get the lower boom alongside:

"Man the after guy! Tend topping lift and forward guy! Set taut! HAUL AFT!". Get the boom in its place and trice up the gear.

A lot of that got past me but I'm pretty sure I know what she meant about the 'after guy'. Hoo.

One should always call a spade a spade.  To slip and call it a club could be costly.

There is no need to remind me that you "..are in America and can voice my opinion." I'm quite aware of that. Nowhere in any of my comments (nor in any others that have responded to you in this or other threads) has anyone told you not to voice your opinion.

Several people (including me) have disagreed with some of your opinions. Maybe in the country you come from your opinion has some special weight, some quality that makes it not arguable. Not in the United States  (I'm substituting the political name for the geographical name used in your post). Here, opinions are just opinions. They are welcomed because without discussion we would learn, in the end, nothing. But they are also open to all debate. If you don't like the responses to your opiniions, tough beans.

    Welcome to the United States.

I was channeling Will Smith just now, from one of the worst movies ever made (which I'm pretty sure was a blockbuster hit and made like a zillion dollars), who  had a cigar in his mouth and had just walked across a stretch of desert to a crashed UFO. He communicated with the occupant.

ETA: just for fun I YouTubed. Turns out there was no cigar in that scene.  I had at least recalled the line correctly and it is still funny. Even terrible movies have their moments.

i got good ideas as well. Like i got this idea for this skill game. Is a arena game but can play it grid-wide. Like you have to buy shoes and wear them. Heaps of them. The goal is to level up. Like level 1 you get a Imelda. Level 2 a Coco. and so on. If get all the way up the top level then you win like heaps of money so can then go to the Hair arena and level up on that one as well

it get around the skill game reqs bc is free to enter. Like you dont have to pay yourself to play on it. Is this really rich person who I am really supportive off who is loaded what do the paying

i still got to find that really rich person yet tho. But am sure they will come bc is awesome my game

Oh, this sounds so right. I can already see how you're on the same page. My game could be a perfect addition to yours, or vice versa. Both have the same basic goals—wring every last L$ you can out of the suckers players before they finally tumble to the fact it's all for nothing.

I thought of writing "all for naught" but did not want anyone to think I was coddling.
