  1. That really doesn't bother me at all and it might even be good news. If in fact LL does not want their casual visiting audience to see what looniness some of us get up too maybe that means there will be a general tolerance for looniness, at least on this little side branch.

You go over there!  This is SLVanity - the most off-topic absurdity relating to SL.

Do you know how much L's are spent in-world on vanity?

Most of mine are, I think. And here's my pic. It got posted once on the old Forum but it's one of my current faves.

  3. In a post not long ago on the old GD Forum Quinn corrected me. I had referred to the existing 'Strengthening' thread as Quinn's. She said, "It's the Forum's thread now". And after thinking about it I had to agree. I'd like to think this incarnation will come to contain a lot of what the first one did. In any case, as one of the owners of this thread I'd like to comment.

I know that there is now a whole new Forum category called "Off Topic" (yippee!), but I think this particular thread is right where it belongs. It is and was not a collection of friends communicating, but in many ways it was at least for me and for others a kind of friend genesis. There were people who posted who are now my friends. There were people who posted who I've yet to meet in SL and  who may eventually become friends but in any case are people I'd love to meet and talk to. The whole thread was/is a collection of rare and very valuable shared experience. Humor. Struggle. Pain. Love. It was, in fact, very much like life, Second or First. That was its beauty. I wish more than anything that that continues.

I would like to propose something to you, my fellow thread owners (past, present, and future). There have been some negative comments. Rather a lot, actually. I responded with a jab of my own and so did some of the rest of you. I propose that retaliation not continue. We can't control, nor should we want to control, what gets posted here. But we can maybe just read and move on. I don't think this thread requires any defense whatever (I know that's easy for me to say since as I mentioned I've already gotten my lick in). It is it's own strength.

I for one will try my hardest to just let any future negativity go. I hope you all do the same.

  4. It's a good day to be alive in SL. I've done my Host file stuff and have my Media settings right so it was not a huge problem for me in terms of existence, but the sheer vileness of the whole operation was/is a drag on everyone.  There's still one thing I'd like to know. If I could learn who the crackerjack (whose only organ(s) smaller than his brain appear to be his gonads) is I'd be pleased. I'm not saying it would move me enough to switch to boy mode just long enough to smack him (be tempting, though) but I'd really like to know whose place not to get close to.

Personally I'm hoping that 'entertainment' remains the overriding ethos and that it doesn't descent to the 'dramatic depths' we too often witnessed in the old GD.

Aye to that. Although there were some who found that stuff entertaining.

  6. But clearly what I need is the Edit button; haven't seen that. I can see the emoticons are going to work differently and I don't recall putting the extra LF in there. And I left off the close parentheses. Other than that it was great. Three lines and I only screwed up two of them!

ETA: Found the Edit feature under Options on the upper right. Takes a bit of mouse control to get there but it works.

  7. First: Hello Chuck. And Hello to all of you that I have yet to get to know, and Hello again to all of you I already know (including three of you by current count that are actually the same person). I'm glad to see her, too.

    :smileyvery-happy:

Second, regarding Reply. I used the Reply button inside Chucks OP, and looking below me it does say I'm replying to that post.

So I've revised a bit. I like the "Preview" feature so you can see what the emoticons are doing. Was that on the old Forum too?

  8. I think I tend to agree with Storm on this. They have my identification also (not a photo, but that's not much of an identity risk). They have the numbers whihch is really what matters. I realize there are risks associated with such revelations but I don't think LL is anymore of a security risk than other companies I deal with and may even be more secure than some of them.

You have to do what you are willing to do.  All we can do is hope it works out.

  9. ETA: For those keeping score at home, I decided that the daily updates on this should stop. For one thing, it was depressing, For another, it was starting to look like it was a bit drama induced, which was not my intention--I was just trying to make a statement. And besides, since the prior day count was fifteen and today is the 1st, the total Account on Hold time = 15 + . Even I can handle that math.

IMHO LL will see this whole thread as mocking their authority and Keli K will never be let out of the gulag.

    Sorry Keli.

With the teen merge going on , LL will not tolerate any sort of undermining of their authority. All this does is show the new people that we don't care what LL thinks and we will do as we please. Personally I would let this one die.

I'd decided not to get back into the discussion, but I felt this needed a comment. I've enjoyed your commentary in other places.

I do not in any way seek to undermine LL's authority. I'm not stupid. It's their product. Neither I nor any other resident has any say in what they do (I have seen a reference in the GD Forum to someone who thinks that's not the case but I doubt that person's sanity). I freely admit that I protested against LL taking Keli out of SL. I also freely admit that naming an alt the way she did was foolish. I am therefore co-foolish since I laughingly played right along. It's a wonder MY account isn't on hold. If that happens, so be it. I do believe that everyone who has posted positive things about Keli in this thread has also accepted the fact that she broke the rules. We just don't believe there was malicious intent, and we are hoping that LL will recognize that and act accordingly.

You might possibly be right about letting this thread die. There was a response from someone earlier, gave me the idea that would be okay. Jaen saw it, too. On the other hand (and you have to be a total forum nerd to know why I used that expression) if someone from LL is reading the thread they may be reading the entire thread. And anyone who has done that should have a pretty good idea of how things are.

Please let Keli K know that I miss her humor and I am (still) concerned that LiveReport posts may be construed as a flip in the face of whomever is in charge of her 'hold'.

I'm afraid I'm getting this feeling too. I'd enjoy Keli's wonderful humor more if it weren't dancing close to what I now see as an edge.

I'm beginning to feel that way too. Much as I am happy to see she is still in good spirits, I'd hate to think it's delaying or preventing her return.

Awww.  This was an excellent post. Several of your posts to this thread have made me smile.

Thanks. Just to make things perfectly clear: my 'poster' is not intended to in any way promote or argue a cause. The right/wrong harmless/dangerous debate has been done. I don't believe any opinions are going to change.

My sole intent was to state a fact: I, and many others, miss Keli Kyrie and the energy, creativity, and fun she brought to the GD Forum and to SL in general.

  13. Well, shoot. I had some time off yesterday so I took the bus out to Lagville to see if I could get in to visit Keli. Now I see she was in court so even if I'd gotten past the guardhouse I'd have missed her. They turned me away, I'm afraid. I maybe should not have had that file. Or the sawz-all. Wirecutters. The dynamite was probably a bad idea too.

Next time I'll be more careful. For now I'll just wait, like everyone else. And hope for good things, like everyone else.

ETA: Oh, I misread--it was only a dream. She wasn't really in court (of course she was probably asleep).

    but I can still contribute.

    I hope ya do!!!

What I had in mind would be just as quick and dirty, although I did come up with a chantable message (having some experience in these matters). And I was also going to do a lefty and righty, as you did. I bet everyone's going to do his/her own thing now. As usual the MVP gets us all inspired.  But I'll send mine to one or the other of you tonight or in the morning.

    ETA: 2012 ??? That's not a hold, that's a chokedown!

This interview almost makes me feel a lump in my throat. I'm not joking ! I do hope this problem gets sorted soon and happily for Keli

Me too and i feel partly responsible....i think it was my 'production' that inspired (not sure that's the right word really..), her to create Keli Inden in the first place.

Bah! Free my star actress you meanies!! I mean...er....please, oh nice, kind LL, let her go!!

Please don't make yourself feel responsible in any way. I know that Keli wound not want you to feel like that. What happened started on Jan 10: http://blogs.secondlife.com/message/565107#565107

Your story started on Jan 11: http://blogs.secondlife.com/thread/54715?start=0&tstart=0

So please don't feel bad. I feel bad for you that now you are missing parts to your story.

Well that's good to know. Makes me feel a tiny bit better, too. How nice to see someone with good information :-). But you're right about one thing, Jaen. Your star actress is sitting in the hoosegow! I have already ordered the pasteboards and paints to begin making the placards for the Free Keli demonstration. Peaceful demonstration, of course. More a show of support than a demand. Not our fault that truck driver got excited about all the people, backed through the wall of the detention center (amazingly enough, right where Keli's cell was) and....oops. I'm getting ahead of myself.
