  1. Wasn’t really useless as it just shows what’s out there on an MP search. I found something on it that I haven’t seen before. For a serious answer: JRF builds The best dang starship and starship parts builder in SL. If you want a Star Trek feel RP space and vehicles, that’s pretty much your one stop shop. The scripting and mesh are top notch.
  2. Just something to consider and keep your eyes open for. There are several big conventions inworld that fit what you’re looking for. Right now, there is the Lovefest 2018 going on, a celebration of the life and works of H.P. Lovecraft: https://lovefest.wordpress.com/ Also, every spring, there is Fantasy Faire: https://fantasyfairesl.wordpress.com/ And lastly, there is the SL Sci-fi Convention: https://slscificonvention.wordpress.com/ These events offer awesome builds, fun parties, incentive to dress up and meet other fans, and chances to see what’s out there in roleplay sims and new nerdy stuff being made. Sadly, it seems there was no Sci-fi Convention this year, but Fantasy Faire keeps getting bigger and better each year, as does Lovecraft Festival. There’s an active convention and festival community out there. Just gotta know where to look!
  3. Communities of the grid, The first running of the Winter Games comes to SL this March. Chamonix City has graciously agreed to host the Games, and communities of all types are welcome to compete, socialize, and get to know one another. More details are here at the ERC blog: http://eastrivercommunity.wordpress.com/2014/01/06/chamonix-city-to-host-the-first-winter-games-in-second-life/ I hope to see you all at the Games!
  4. Well here's a shocker, Mr. Clarence and I are in agreement. Let me break down your arguments here, Mr. Chiwanga: For sake of not getting bogged down in pointless political debate, I'm gonna skip the communism stuff and address the SL stuff. You say that our world is a giant ugly shopping mall, and I beg to differ, sir/madam. Come with me on a boat ride through the rivers of Sansara that deepen into mountain canyons and tell me that's ugly. Or how about we go for a walk through the East River community, where people have banded together to build a beautiful, art-centered community where all are welcome to pursue their dreams and tell me that's just a shopping mall. Or how about we go for a swim through the Blake Deeps, a community built undersea wonderland, that pays tribute to the memory of Fancee Bebe, someone who has contributed quite a bit in her life to the SL community, and then tell me more about televisualized teats. You think building is easy? Ok, I will rezz for you a mesh Cessna plane I have. How about you replicate it for me? It must have the same accurate flight model, detailed exterior and interior, fully functional instrument panel, and functioning switches and levers inside. That will take some mastery at blender and use of efficient scripting. I will be back to check your work in 5 minutes..... And after you're done with that, I'd like you to make me some liquid mesh jeans and shirts, with photorealistic details in the texturing. I'll give you a few more minutes for that too. After all, you want to show the villainous capitalist scum how great and impressive communist creations are, so, show us! Here's the thing, bub. SL isn't perfect, nor is LL, but it IS a place of infinite possibility. All it takes is initiative. You want your communist equality wonderland? Great! Find some like minded individuals, get together, and buy a sim or two, all paying an equal share of tier, and knock our socks off with your creativity. You want nice things in SL to be free? Great! Make some nice stuff, put in the effort to make it the best there is, then set the example by RELEASING IT FOR FREE YOURSELF. Otherwise, you just come off as a whiny, entitled, lazy troll.
  5. Wow, lots of good responses here. I would not advocate smooshing the land masses together and ruining a lot of waterfront property, noooo. But maybe moving the estates out of the way, and inching Sansara close enough for a channel between that and the Nautilus regions, doesn't have to even be long. As for estate owners raging, the move would have no discernable affect, would it? Just the coordinates on the grid, as someone up-thread pointed out. I know this is one of those huge pipe-dreams, but it's nice to think "what if..." So many sailors and pilots ignore Sansara, yet there is so much to see from the air and roads.
  6. So...several times in the last few weeks, this has come up in conversations with some of my friends: wouldn't it be awesome to have Sansara and the Atoll connected with the Blake, Satori, Corsica, and Gaeta? Shoot...while we are at it, why not connect the entire mainland continents? Forum denizens, what would that entail? Would there be any inconvenience on the citizen side? Or would it be more back-end work, just telling the system what sims connect to what? What would the pros and cons be for sailors, drivers, and pilots? Now....discuss!
  7. My first post on the forums, just to back up my favorite place Seriously, the Commune has felt like a home to me since the first time I walked in. Everyone is so warm and inviting. Many good friendships have been formed since I first went there. Other places can call themselves "A" commune, but Sedi has put together THE Commune. What we have here is something special, and I hope you can check it out! EDIT: Seems I've posted a few times before...but it's not a habit lol. The Commune is awesome. Check us out!
