Unfortunately you have made a discovery that has been known about in SL for years.  AMD/ATi support for OpenGL, the graphics programming that SL uses, is inferior to that of NVidia, the other "major player" in GPU production.  As a result Nvidia cards regularly out perform AMD cards in most aspects of SL , most notably in mesh resolution.

Over the years various driver updates have made AMD/ATi cards better or worse relative to Nvidia but the status qou has pretty much been maintained.

Short of replacing the AMD GPU with an NVidia one (which may or may not be possible with a Lenovo AIO), there is not a lot you can do, so far as I know.  Others may know more.  For your sake I hope so! :smileyfrustrated:

  2. I would suggest that you have a problem either with your ISP's connection to the SL servers or your router needs a restart.

Assuming that you HAVE rebooted your router (turned everything off, waited two minutes and then turned everything back on...)

Do a speedtest to the Tucson server ("my preferred server") and see if the speed and ping are different from the usual.

You really need to give us more than "A windows computer" to work on...much fuller spec, if anyone is to give you more meaningful help.

This is a tired, old argument and while it IS perfectly reasonable on one level, it is utterly impractical on many others.  LL is a business, like any other and it needs to feed its greedy shareholders with profit.  That it does it with excessive zeal is reprehensible but hardly a novel offense.

Sansara is Linden Lab's answer to the need to "remake" SL.  Sansara is rationally built and much better controlled, but as you might expect, being better optimized it is also far less open.  Those other "games" you mention may well allow others to build, but I'd surmize that all they really can do is choose from pre-optimized substructures, so that the overall function and user-load is more predictable.

To use a hackneyed phrase SL "is what it is".  It is badly built, badly patched and by and large badly run.  There is nothing that any of us can do about that, complain bitterly as we might.

It is also something that has liberated many from a RL highly restricted either by disability or ill-health, something we all too often forget.

I suspect that Whirly Fizzle will give you more complete instructions as to what you can do, but I'll try to give you the basics

    1)  Try downloading the current default LL viewer, log in and see if your full inventory populates.

If it does, then you are suffering from a Firestorm-specific glitch that has afflicted many and the cause of which I have no clue to.

    2) If it does NOT, you need to file a ticket with LL giving data of the expected inventory and the actual received inventory IN THE LL VIEWER.  They will not help you if you quote Firestorm data.

    3) Join and ask in the Firestorm Support Group inworld.  There are articles on your issue in the Firestorm wiki and this will help you.

Finally, in most cases DO NOT clear your inventory cache without advice and VERY GOOD reason.  The fetching rarely improves things unless you relog in a specific low lag sim such as Hippo Hollow.

I am struck by two things.  First, you appear to be at very odd co-ordinates (-0.1, 1.0, 48.1)??  when you sent that:  to me that suggests you are logged into that sim in a very strange position.

Secondly the OpenGL support on that 780M GPU is 2.1...I thought we were up to 4.5 now.  I may be iggerant, perhaps mobile GPUs use a different version of OpenGL, but to my mind you will struggle both with mesh-rezzing and with more complex sculpts.

Pardon me if I am way wide of the mark there but to my mind you are likely to have issues and they are more your end than LL's.

Also the Firestorm version you use is two iterations old....thast's not going to help in trhe rendering department.

I think the sim boot failures suggest caps failure yet again, and that is going to require LL intervention.

  6. ahha...thankyou, Dan

One issue that may or may not be related to this server software.  I noticed over the past week that on several LeTigre and Bluesteel RC sims mesh is taking a longer time to rez than at Main Server sims, with today's roll I have NOT seen this effect on Main Server sims.

    Strange!

Assuming that you have checked that you are set to receive offline IMs to your email (just to ensure all aspects are working), your IM chat history is set in viewer preferences (precise location dependant on your type of viewer (since I use Firestorm and you use Singularity they MAY be different), as is the abilty to show the last few lines of any conversation in IM.

IM chat history is stored on your local computer and you should see the filepath set in the preferences page.  If for some reason your filepath has corrupted, it may be worthwhile to reset the path manually in prefs (backup, relog and "restore").

Also you should be able to find the folder on your computer...if it is not there, you have some local issue, it is unlikely to be SL.  :smileyhappy:

  8. Well, it seems that no-one is willing to explain the inconsistencies.  When this type of thing happens, the old LL secrecy seems to return.  It is a pity, but perhaps it was a security exploit, though why only on LeTigre is a puzzle.  Of course it "might" have been a technical FUBAR, in which case they will remain silent, of course!
