Umm, well i dont understand what you mean..For me as customer it is possible to change a review. I have the option to delete the review and after that i can write a new one..

And you can also change the number of stars?

Then in that case I'm wrongly informed. Or maybe it has changed in the meanwhile... I cannot check myself because I use the marketplace only as a search engine, but do my purchases in world. So I have no review on the marketplace that I can try to change.

  2. Lately I had a customer who did not know how to work with a sculpty map, despite I include a 'how to' with pictures in all my products. I also include an example of a ready made product, so customers can use the measures of those when creating their own product.
Now this customer was disappointed the the example was not full perms. After I had explained her that the sculpt map and the textures are full perms, and she can use them to make items with her as the creator, she was satisfied and told me: 'I was about to write a bad review about your product for false advertising.'

A while ago I had a customer, who had bought a product in which example texture is missing. He had given the product four stars with a review like: I really like the product, but one of the textures is missing. I will rate it five stars when I become the missing texture.
It took some time before I saw his review, but then I contacted him and apologized for the missing texture and gave it to him. He said: 'Oh, after all it was not important, because I found the missing texture in your Photoshop file.' And then he went to the marketplace with the intention to rate the product five stars, but this was not possible.

There must be hunderds of other examples, where a customer has written a review based on facts that are looked upon different after explication about the product or assistance from the merchant. But the merchant is not around 24/7 to help his customers. It might need some patience before a customer gets assistance, and not all disappointed customers have this patience. Giving a low rating and a bad review is a way to vent then.

I think the possibility to re-review would be a great option for the marketplace. Both for merchants and customers who feel different about their review after contact with the merchant. So please, marketplace team?

  3. I fully support this request. It is very annoying that complaints or compliments of your customers just don't reach you, unless you check all your items one by one on the marketplace. I have some other things among hands then checking for reviews.

I also had a case where a customer asked for support by posting a review. I only saw that 2 months later. Because I was not notified by her in world, and I don't receive any messages when someone writes a review, I only could give her the support she had asked for after 2 months. I really felt embarrassed to IM her after such a long time.

  4. How do I report harrassement in private messages here in the forums?

Though the forum has buttons to report inappropriate  content, I don't see such an option in the PM. Someone is harassing me in my PM. Where should I report it? Should I send in an AR report inworld, should I send in a ticket, is there any other option?

Edit: I just contacted live support about this. The answer to my question is: you can choose what you like best, send an AR in world, or send in a ticket.

  5. For me there is also a diffence between creating and just running the businesses. In the periods I'm involved very much in creating I tend to spend 40 to 60 hours a week at it. In SL I discovered a new passion, 3D modelling. I learned to find my way around in Blender to make sculpts, and for a while that was very satisfying. But I came to a point where creating sculpties was too limited, I wanted to learn more in 3D design. So last half year I have been investing a lot in education. That was the reason to put my business in a 'low attention mode'. I help my customers, and I communicate a bit with my partners in the business, but that is about all. I think I spend like 3 hours a week in world.

Investing in education is in the first place for my personal developmentm, but in the end the business will profit from it as well. Though I have plans to brothen my horizon with 3D, I still have enough ideas for items for our shop. And I begin to long to having time for it again. First thing I'm going to when I have finished my study is making a nice, new, big, fat sculpt!

  6. 'Gaming the search terms' is not the right term to use in this case.

What Maryanne is refering to is an item of me that shows up in her marketplace shop. She has been sending me notecards about this inworld, telling me to get out of her shop. I had a look at her problem and then I found I made a typo in one of my listings. I misspelled the world 'silk' into 'slik', what happens to be her shopname.

Though she has not the alone right to use the word 'slik' as a keyword, I could understand she was irritated that my merchandise showed up at her marketplace shop. So I corrected my typo and changed it to the right word 'silk'. I thought this would solve her problem, but it didn't. Despite I cleaned the listings with the typo, they still show up at her marketplace shop. But that is beyond my control. It must be one of the bugs of the marketplace.I advised her to contact the lab for further assistence.

I also told her to have a look at my keywords (with View -> Source) to convince herself that her brandname is no longer a keyword in my listings.

So I have done what I could to help her. AR me or flagging my items on the marketplace won't help to solve the problem. Cause there is nothing to find in my listings that have anything to do with gaming the search terms.

Does anyone find listing enhancements useful?

I was using listing enhancements allot in Nov and Dec with very good effect. Then something changed,  literally overnight and I was getting allot less sales from them. They suddenly went from being a very good investment to being a waste of money. Not sure how useful they are currently.

Hmmz... my sales peaked in Nov and Dec as well, without having any enchancements running. Then I bought some just after Christmas. But they did do nothing at all for me. I decided not to continue with them, it's merely a waste of money.

    Hey Madeliefste.

This is still a point I need to investigate, I know it can be convenient for the customer to have all related items grouped together but on the other hand it could also be smart to group items that go together well. Example: I could group all lighting or I could group a nice sofa, some lighting, a table and warm carpet. I think that especially in furniture it could be good to show the customers what items combine best. Help them a bit. A store lineup with "sets" also does look and feel less like a shop and more like a "home". Maybe best would be a combination.

There are different type of customers, who do all have their own needs. Grouping furniture as sets might attrack some customers, for example you have a group that loves to hang around in inworld shops for hours, to buy things or to get ideas or just to see what is out there. Setting up sets gives you much more the possibility to seduce the potential buyer, because you can make appealing lay-outs.

On the other hand my idea is that the group of people who are looking for a specific objects like 'a lamp' or 'a blue-white carpet' is a bigger group. Not only creators like to be creative in SL, but also shoppers. The creativity is in combining the items of your taste to create your own atmosphere.
Inworld shopping asks a lot of patience of customers, you have to do with lag, you have to do with finding you way around in very large shops. Nowadays with LL attracking customers to the marketplace where shopping is lagfree and items are searchable by keywords like 'lamp' or 'carpet blue white' people have less patience with walking through large stores that don't have grouped the objects together they are looking for. That is at least my experience.

  9. We can have display names in world, though you have a name already you can choose to have another.

I want the same thing for ranks. I don't want a rank given to me by an automatic system, there is nothing there I want to rank for. So please give me a displacy name for my batch, so I can call myself  'creator' or 'sculpt maker' or some like that.

  10. For a big shop it's important to group your products together by category and it must be quickly clear for the customer where to look for what. It must be an overviewable system that brings order.

Then the atmosphere of the shop is important. What is the character of your brand? When you want to market your brand as a luxury brand, you need another atmosphere in the store then when you want to affiche yourself as a pricefighter, for example.

First floor or second floor, depends much on what you put on what floor. I have seen a lot of shops that bring the lower quality items to the second floor. This gives you as a customer the general idea that second floor is less interesting then first floor. But when I visit a shop it depends on what I find there if I will cheque out a second floor or not. When I'm a bit disappointed about what I see in the shop as soon as I enter, I won't cheque out the second floor as well. But when I really like what a merchant makes, I'm curious enough to take a look at a second and even a third or fourth floor.

  11. I do agree with Toysoldier. This kind of communication will work better when it's blogged.

What can be done effectively in only 6 hours of communication a year? Brooke can update us about what is going on. There is hardly time to answer questions, for having a discussion where different point of views can be adressed office hours don't seem to be the best place at all.

So I support the suggestion to put those updates on the blog, and set the blog open for comments / discussion.

There is something i would like to discuss openly, and that is collaboration. Second Life is so strictly aimed at one-man-business, that it gives people that like to put their heads and skills together, very poor tools.

One of the most annoying changes in the new marketplace is that since i'm getting a cut from my partner (i get the higher cut) i don't get any information about who bought my item, and for whom. I can't redeliver any failed purchases. I can't even see the transaction, nor what item that has been bought! Only the sum of money and that the MK2 sent the money. Well not very useful tidbit of information, when i need to help a customer.

We have the same problem at cYo. To keep the brand together on the marketplace we choose to work with just one seller. But my fellow creator needs to know to what items of him have been sold and to who.
Now at the end of every month I download the CSV output, import in to excel, filter out his items, and then send him the reports for his items. It is not the most handy way you can imagen, but thus far the only way my partner can see his own sales figures.

It is about time that the marketplace supports cooperative brands with more then one creator. We need both an overall table of all sales in the business and a table that shows the sales per merchant in the brand.

And maybe some kind of new permission for selling full perms work to creators...

Yes, what we need is a system where full perms items can be given with full perms to the next owner, but not to the second next owner. So the next owner (the merchant who uses the work in his creations) can have full right to the object, but he can never sell it again with full rights to the second next owner.
