  1. Yay! Just finished my first commission, a promotional video for London City Sim. It was also my first HD project.
  2. Great replies, thanks. I guess I'll have to be more persistant with my requests if I want to fully comply with TOS. I think it's a shame though. I think filming machinima should be allowed anywhere unless specifically stated by the owner, as with photography. Machinima is a great way of showcasing the great scenery of SL to a wider audience, and I think policy is too inhibiting.
  3. You make machinima. You find a wonderful sim that would make the perfect location for a scene. You read the covenent. It doesn't say anything about photography/machinima (surprise!). You send a message to the owner asking permission. You wait for days/weeks but get no reply. Do you go ahead and film anyway?
  4. Too good for YouTube ;) Here's my tribute to superhero films, Griefbusters. http://vimeo.com/33448632
  5. After 5 months, filming and post-production, 'Griefbusters' is finally complete. It my little homage to the superhero genre, filmed inworld with my partner in crime, Evie Falconer and a cast and crew of about 30. The official launch party kicks off at 4am SLT Sunday 11th December at Comptons Pub, Mainland London sim. Come on down and be one of the first in the world to see it. The link will be posted here soon after, or visit the Cinema Minima Vimeo page... Cinema Minima

  7. I am working on a project that I think LL might be interested in. How do I let them know about it?
  8. Haha! Glad you liked it Maryanne! I look forward to seeing some of your SL movies in the future :matte-motes-big-grin-squint:
  9. Thanks for all your feedback :matte-motes-big-grin: Regarding voice, I make 'silent' films for several reasons; - SL is largely a 'silent' environment. Voice in SL is the exception, not the norm. - Silent films are more universal because they transcend language barriers - Silent fims are more challenging from a film making perspective, and rely on action and gestures (and music) to tell the story, making for a more fast-paced film that is less complex and hopefully more enjoyable for potential viewers, who generally have a short attention span when it comes to online video. - Unless you are a professional voice actor, voice can sound pretty amateurish and detract from the experience. Plus I hate the sound of my own voice, and my actors do too. That's my opinion anyway. It doesn't bother me if you don't want to link my film on your blog. My work gets picked up by plenty of great machinima sites, such as the excellent Mal Burns Second Arts
  10. Hi all, Preview of upcoming movie "Griefbusters", starring Bunky Snowbear and Evie Falconer. Second Life action/comedy mini-movie, from the creators of Dr. Noob. For those that missed Dr. Noob, here's the link Dr. Noob - Second Life Mini-movie
  11. Thanks for your feedback Marigold! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It would be good if some Lindens watched it, but I'm not sure they would promote it because it may not meet their requirements for approved SL machinima. We'll see what happens. I look forward to telling Evie of your compliment about her derriere. She'll have a giggle. Cheers!
  12. Second Life machinima action/comedy mini-movie, starring Bunky Snowbear and Evie Falconer. Full movie now showing .http://vimeo.com/25531972
  13. Thanks for your support everyone. The film will premiere at Le Baiser Rouge, One Quarter French sim on Saturday June 25, 6am SLT. It will be able to be viewed on Vimeo after the premiere.
  14. Thanks for the feedback everyone I'm currently putting the final pieces together and will release it within the next week (if all goes well). I won't be putting it on YouTube for several reasons, so watch this space. I'll put the details and the film in this thread, and I'll try to notify you inworld when it is released.
  15. SL generally goes a bit slow. Not so noticeable when inworld but it does seem to show in machinima. I've tried to speed it up a bit, both increasing the speed of a clip and with fast-paced editing. Here is my latest attempt. The film is due for release soon. As machinima is an emerging medium, I guess there are no "rules" to speak of. But most of what I have seen tends to be more in the arthouse category. I've tried to bring a bit of the cinema into machinima, a tribute to some of the silver screens classic (and most popular) moments. All for the sake of giving myself and friends a bit of a giggle, but also trying to push the appeal and possibilities of machinima to a wider audience, outside SL. Wish me luck! BTW, film shot with Xfire, edited in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. Filmed in low res because high res recording lags my computer too much which is no use for action sequences. If anyone has any suggestions other than buying a super-power computer I'd love to hear them.
  16. I remember constantly sliding through walls and travelling through the ground before crashing. This was back in about 2005, and Australia had relatively primitve internet. I forgot about SL until 2009, by then things had gotten a lot better.
  17. Agreed Toyla. And I am more than happy to be on Dogboat's banned list. SL by it's very nature is not subject the same laws of physics and mobility as RL. Some things need to be reconsidered. But I agree that basic manners and respect are also needed. If I am passing through a sim and I'm asked to leave, I do so without fuss. I admit to breaking into a couple of unoccupied houses in the past (mostly out of boredom), but I won't do that anymore, on consideration of the sensitivities of half the people who have commented here. On the flip side, the other half have said that they welcome uninvited guests, whether they ar there or not.
  18. In response to Kidd Krasner "Merely walking through one parcel at a time seems a most inefficient way to go about things." Sure it is, but that's the whole point. It's the spirit of adventure, surprise, discovery etc that has got me doing what I am doing, and loving it too!
  19. Ahh, but how do I know they are private if they have no barriers? Surely if people were concerned about trespassers, they would install security.
  20. I'm currently walking across the SL grid, from the southwest to the northeast corner. So far I've walked 130+ sims. Yay! But I have a moral conumdrum. If an area of a sim has ban lines or a auto-boot security system, it is clear strangers are not welcome. But if an area is unsecured and unoccupied (ie, noone around to ask), is it ok to explore the area and/or break into a house and have a bath? Any thoughts on this issue of travel etiquette would be appreciated. You can follow my progress at http://bunkysend2end.blogspot.com/ if you wish to do so
