    Hello,

I'm just in the process of re-outfitting myself in mesh and it seems that the only good Converse type low-tops, or high-tops are made by Gos and that they are "gacha."  It turns out that it's virtually impossible to find or get any appliers for them anymore except for a few, very unpopular styles and colours.  Specifically, the "rares" (the normal colours for Converse type shoes), are almost impossible to find.

Now, obviously gacha is a bit of a scam from the start so I'm prepared to deal with "that side" of SL and pay a stupid amount of money for them, but does anyone know of a gacha store or yard sale that even *has* them?  All I'm looking for is basic black, white, pink, red etc.

It seems odd to me that these type of shoes are so popular, but yet the best example of them in SL (the Gos ones), are currently impossible to find on sale.

Duck Nipple has gatcha resale ones, but they are like heels (as if stood on tip toes). If you'd like a lilac pair let me know & i'll send them over if transfer

you can get round the driving license by having a provisional license even if you live in central London and have zero want or need to drive it's worth having it will be accepted as ID/proof of age anywhere

    Everywhere except Asda! lol

Plus, not all of us can have a provisional licence, so it's not good for everyone :(

I would imagine that the primary way of proving age within SL for UK residents if this bill passes will be to have credit card information on file, with possibly a nominal sum (such as £1) charged to it after it's been added, in order to verify that it's a legitimate card. While this won't stop determined minors from using their parents' card information if they're (for some reason) desperate to access SL, it's probably the way that LL would go if asked to put some kind of age verification in place. There are precious few options available:

    • Driving license? - Not everybody drives (especially those living in highly-populated areas, such as London, with frequent and [mostly!] reliable public transport)
    • Passport? - Not everybody goes abroad and has an up-to-date passport (besides which, the cost is prohibitively expensive if you only want to use it for age verification)
    • ID cards? - These work for getting into clubs, but I'm not sure the Govt will accept them against a bill like this
    • National Insurance numbers? - Not publicly accessible for LL to check against (despite the best efforts of civil servants accidentally leaving laptops in cars!)
    • Electoral roll? - Only the public electoral roll is available for anyone to check, and many people (myself included) have put themselves on the private roll instead, to reduce the amount of junk mail they receive
    • Household bill such as utilities or Council Tax? - Anyone could scan something like that and send it, not just an adult

Sure, not everybody has a credit card either, but that's all I can think of that is currently used for age verification in the UK. I'm wondering if the Govt is going to be using this as a first step to introducing official identity cards, though...

I hope they will have a choice of what to use, as i'm someone with no credit card & it sure as hell will cost a lot of £ to move abroad to use SL lol

Where do all the really lonely ones congregate? Those affected by racism in SL, the disabled, the depressed, the ultra shy? Where are you guys? I'm dying to be your friend.

In fact, I'm thinking of creating a sort of weekly support group for us misfits (the Support group category of Events is empty, as it is).

Often I log out of SL feeling worse than before I logged in. I don't think that that is how it should be. I'm lonely in RL as well. I've been through a lot, and I have great empathy for and understanding of all sorts of issues, and can offer that in a friendship.

At the same time I'm healing from an injury that makes it difficult to communicate with people for too long. Sometimes it would be nice to explore sims with folks, without the expectation of lengthy conversations.

The social climate in SL (and most other places I've played in) is standoffish, as well. I'm particularly sensitive to it and it makes it harder to make friends. I believe it has to do with the social climate of the world at large.

    Thanks for reading.

That's definitely not how it should be! I have found this too, I find people who are chatty & seem to want to be friends, but when you start to want to spend time with them, they suddenly aren't ever around (or maybe it's me!)

I have serious communication difficulties and am disabled, but i'm a good friend to have and love to spend time with friends. There is a breakfast thing every Sunday @ 8am slt, the location changes weekly I think (The Forum Cartel group sends notices), maybe try that as I plan to one of these weeks!

I love how Glam Rock these look.

I think your new face looks so much like Boy George. That was the first person I thought of when i saw your post. Love it and all your looks.

It really does, I too thought that as soon as I saw it . . . will have to see if Skell will sing some Karma Chameleon for us!

What I did with the Vista Lia head was:

    1. I wore the shape "VISTA BENTO HEAD LIA by VISTA 2" (comes with head package).
(to me that one looked the nicest head shape)
    2. From that shape I copied all the head shape numbers to my own shape.
    3. After copying I tweaked the head shape slightly here and there until I was satisfied.

It's important just to tweak little by little (with no radical changes at once), here and there and looking at different angles, until it looks good what you are after.
In the below images I have the YS&YS skin what comes with the head.

Thanks, i'll give it a go! It's going to be my work in progress I think, as with my mesh head I got lucky that it just worked with very little tweaking.

    "Dressed to kill, eh?"
That was what one gentleman said to me in 2007 in Help Island Public when I was wearing long, crazily active, freebie flexi dress.
The newbie me was so happy about that compliment for many days! :$ Even today I clearly remember his words.
And what's more, he gave me some more freebie  clothes to wear. ♥ ♥ ♥ That was really cool for newbie girl.

Not gonna lie, your avi is my absolute favourite. I've tried the Lia head (because you made it look so good, and my name lol) but can't for the life of me make it work. It's the same with Catwa, I love the eyes but just can't modify shapes at all! Great job anyway!

This is a very interesting response. It reads (whether you intended it that way or not) as "I don't like this. It's too feminine. Please go back to being a masculine man."

Androgyny has been a strong part of Skell's Second Life since his earliest days. (A glance back through more than the first four or five pages of his Flickr will show you that.) Since mesh bodies and heads (and the attendant mesh clothing with built-in boobs and hips - not to mention heels that only fit specific female feet) arrived on the scene I've not been able to enjoy that side of his persona as much. It's been stifled, and I've felt the lesser for it.

This is all pre-mesh head stuff:

    andro01.thumb.jpg.0a5324d82f012337ed5d82a3a73c8b2a.jpg

My kind of androgyny has always been a little more masc than femme; a little more of the "Is that a boy?!" that I recall people saying when Boy George first appeared on the music scene in the early 80s. I have no desire to take Skell into the more 'pretty boi' outré-femme side of andro, which is why I've been tweaking "Syd's" face to give it a slightly more masculine shape (not all that easy with a feminine head, by the way).

Androgyny - by its very nature - challenges our natural human instinct to pigeonhole people into nice simple boxes that don't make us feel uncomfortable. It also challenges our much baser (and less obvious-to-us) human instinct to judge whether someone else would make a good mate and father/mother to our children. And that's why I like it. I love blurring that gender line, but just keeping to the slightly more male side of it. I find it fascinating and a challenge.

In short: masculine!Skell has not gone away. I'm just happy that I've found a way to once more indulge my andro side occasionally :)

(Not picking on you, Liana. Your comment just made me have some thinky-thoughts, and I wanted to get them out there.)

More pics behind the spoiler tag, just taken from a random sampling of my Flickr for the past few years:

Well, I definitely *do* like the new look, a lot! I don't really see him as feminine at all, though I don't look at people like that really. I DO love to look at interesting photos, which you do well! I will joke around with males and females, but am attracted to neither . . I like to wind Vin up about his darn beard quite often! I can't deny the muscly look is nice, to a point, but not for reasons most would think I like it! (Nothing to do with physical attraction)

Whether muscly you comes back or not, so long as you keep doing amazing photos I will keep drooling! Hope you weren't offended, it wasn't meant like that, muscle is my fave for reasons most would never imagine, but for me I just love to see what people do, and these looks you come up with. (I have a lot of looks also, but more with clothes than different skins etc. I didn't get to see the photo of Sid until after, as it hadn't loaded, but he's definitely droolworthy too, sorry!

    (Probably badly explained!)
