  1. Apologies for not posting the link to the details on this meeting: http://bit.ly/g2nPaj. Adding to the original post as well. Brooke
  2. Apologies for not putting this in last night. I meant to communicate a delay in the date of 2/1. Because of the issues we have seen, we will be extending this through next Tuesday, 2/8. Please hold off on flagging items, and we will do the same. Brooke.
  3. I checked in with Meta earlier today, and, after some data verification, he is comfortable that he was able to get all the data moved over that was not previously moved. However, as with anything complex like this, there may still be some outlying issues. If this last migration did not fix your problems, please comment on MKT-1666 (wrong number--please see WEB-3604). We will be monitoring this for stragglers and will address periodically (if you post something and don't see movement w/in 2 weeks, feel free to ping me or Meta). Thank you all for your patience on this very long process. Brooke
  4. Here's an update. Pasting my previous action items with details On the Linden side, here is what we’re doing: Currently working on a bug fix that incorrectly flags some items as moderate and adult. We plan to release this fix on Tuesday. This will be going out tomorrow am. Once it is released, I'll drop a note in here. We'll be asking a subset of merchants to retry saving their listings to see if this helps. Reading through the forum posts and filtering out comments that appear to be issues.I was caught up as of this am. I will do my best to skim over additional comments, but, mostly, I am focused on getting any fixes identified and rolled out. Reviewing the decisions, processes, testing, etc. done prior to the roll out to identify actionable changes that can be made going forward. We had an internal post mortem today to identify what we can do better as a group in the company to make things go more smoothly for us and for the Merchants and Residents who use Marketplace. I'll be presenting a summary during the Marketplace User Group on Thursday am. Monitoring gross market value for the Marketplace as a whole and the listings that were migrated to determine if we are seeing a change in behavior. At this point we do not have enough data to make an assessment and will review on Monday. We did see a dip on the items that were moved, so we are changing the default when you are over 18 and logged in to Marketplace to show you Moderate content in addition to General. We are doing our best to get this out before the weekend. I had a very last minute conversation with some merchants on this to make sure this made sense. I've posted the chat here. The people in this chat were pulled based upon certain data points and some last minute grabbing of people online and from a previously existing user group. People giving feedback will be rotated--so you'll get your chance! Reviewing listings that you all have sent to us and modifying our filtering to fix any issues. We have been reviewing CS tickets and the JIRA items. A subset have been passed on to dev for further investigation. We are going to keep the same JIRA open, per the request of CS. So please continue to post there. Working on getting phase 2 rolled out (advanced search options) to make it easier to find listings marked as moderate and adult.I'll be setting up a review later this week or early next week to look at what we are proposing. This will be with a targeted user group of merchants. I'll also take a subset of people who do not fit the data criteria but want to participate. I'll discuss the criteria we are using during the Marketplace User Group on Thursday and provide a means for signing up. On the email issue: if you asked Marketing to remove you from their lists, you will not get the email that was sent. That is the means I currently have available for sending out mass emails, so opting in will make sure you get these communications from Marketplace. Yes, there are other solutions we could put into place to send mass emails, but the same information will be posted in this forum and tweeted. Since there are other options, I will prioritize this below software fixes for now. Brooke
  5. I meant this forum group. I'll clarify. Brooke
  6. Hi all, I just checked in with Meta, and he has some final work to do on this, which he expects to finish by Monday. One of us will post here once that is done. Thanks for your patience on this. We are trying to make sure we've got everything moved over... Brooke
  7. Hi all, Well, it wasn’t perfect, but it could have been much worse. Let’s focus on what we have now and how we can improve next time. On the Linden side, here is what we’re doing: Currently working on a bug fix that incorrectly flags some items as moderate and adult. We plan to release this fix on Tuesday. Reading through the forum posts and filtering out comments that appear to be issues. Reviewing the decisions, processes, testing, etc. done prior to the roll out to identify actionable changes that can be made going forward. Monitoring gross market value for the Marketplace as a whole and the listings that were migrated to determine if we are seeing a change in behavior. At this point we do not have enough data to make an assessment and will review on Monday. Reviewing listings that you all have sent to us and modifying our filtering to fix any issues. Working on getting phase 2 rolled out (advanced search options) to make it easier to find listings marked as moderate and adult. On the Merchant side, here is what you can to do help us help you: Keep going through your listings. There are no additional planned changes to the Listing Guidelines. Note that the logic is checked on save, in addition to during a weekly process, so just editing the listing will only help once we have updated our ratings logic. Which leads to the next bullet... If you have a listing that is getting incorrectly flagged, add the URL to PJIRA WEB-3583. This PJIRA will be looked at on Monday, and a new one will be created for the next set of listings that need to be reviewed. Please do not post keyword lists on Second Life forums. We will have to remove those posts. Keep providing feedback. I’ll be reviewing and think that it makes sense to take a portion of the next office hour to discuss. For those who didn’t receive the email, please make sure you check your spam folders. I did a quick check and your names were on the list we submitted to send. Okay, I’m off to review some filters to see if we can’t get some cleanup done before the weekend. Brooke PS--There was a miscommunication earlier on where this blog post should live, and it was moved into the private forum. Once I realized the mistake, I had it pulled back into the public forum.
  8. Hi all, We finally got the email sent out (apologies for those who were expecting it yesterday). I'm including the copy here so that it is easy to find for future reference. You'll note that there is a self referential link to this forum post in the email. Keeping it for accuracy. Here's the text of the email. We sent it to all merchants who currently have an active listing. Important Maturity Changes in SL Marketplace As you know, the Teen Grid officially closed last Friday, January 21st and teens are now allowed to join the main Second Life Grid. To ensure that the Marketplace is safe for all Residents, we've rolled out some changes to the Marketplace to better align the maturity settings in Marketplace with the rest of Second Life. Recommended Actions to Listings from 1/27 - 2/1 Today, Thursday, January 27th, the Marketplace has begun to use the same maturity ratings that are used in Viewer and inworld -- General, Moderate, and Adult. Your listings have been automatically updated with new maturity ratings, based on keywords and other algorithms. Note that this automated update is currently a work in progress. If you're unable to find one or more of your listings in search or have additional questions, read the Marketplace/ Sellers FAQ. Please follow these steps to ensure that your listings have been accurately rated: Review New Listing Guidelines: Use these guidelines to update the maturity level on listings that may be incorrectly ranked. Adjust Maturity Ranking of Items by 2/1: Use the new maturity level selector, on your Manage Inventory page, to adjust the maturity rating of each item. Please complete any necessary ranking adjustments, by Tuesday, February 1st. Refrain from Flagging Items Until 2/1: As a courtesy to your fellow Merchants, please do not flag other Merchants' items until February 1st, giving them a chance to update their own listings. Before the end of February, the Marketplace will be updated to allow setting maturity level preferences at a more granular level than is currently supported, such as allowing Residents to view moderate content without adult content included. Thank you for helping us support the migration of teens into Second Life and if you should have any additional questions, please see this forum post. Regards, Brooke Linden Sr. Product Manager, Marketplace
  9. Hi all, As many of you know, the teen grid was shut down on Friday. This week, we will be rolling out some changes in Marketplace to ensure Residents under 18 will not be exposed to adult content. Here is a quick summary of what changes will be occurring. Phase 1: 1/27 Release On Thursday, the Marketplace will move to the General, Moderate, and Adult content levels already in use in the Viewer. Just prior to this release (starting on Wednesday), we will be running a process that will add a content level to existing items. Once the release has been completed, you will be able to review the ratings set on your Marketplace listings by viewing your inventory: there will be a new column “Maturity” showing what level the item falls into. Search will now support viewing general or moderate/adult content. Please view the updated listing guidelines (link points to the current guidelines) on Thursday for more details. Note that, in addition to automated process to migrate listings, it will continue to be possible to flag listings. Please take some time after the new guidelines are posted to review your listings and make sure they comply. People will be able to start flagging listings based upon the new guidelines on Thursday (though I do not expect that we will see much of this right away), so the sooner you can do this, the better! Phase 2: by 2/28/2011 Before the end of February, Marketplace will be updated to allow setting maturity level preferences at a more granular level than is currently supported, such as allowing Residents to view moderate content without adult content included. Why was this done in 2 steps? Timing, pure and simple. We wanted to ensure we had the proper controls in place as soon as possible for the teens entering the main grid. Phase 2 will provide further refinement. A quick update on Maturity is on the agenda for the Marketplace Office Hours on 1/26. Regards, Brooke
  10. The migration is starting. Note that the XStreetSL ID is no longer editable. Note that ratings, reviews, and sales history will not be migrated if they have been migrated before UNLESS the product they were migrated to in Markeplace has been deleted (putting it into a ghosted state). In this case, if the XStreetSL ID was added to a new product, the ratings, reviews, and sales history will be migrated. (Thanks to the Merchants who checked in on this yesterday!)
  11. This is just a quick reminder that this migration will be occurring starting tomorrow, 1/11/2011. We expect this migration to last several days and will update this post once it has completed.
  12. Fix for WEB-3097; Delayed Final Data Migration WEB-3097 will have a fix deployed on January 4, 2011. As a result, the final data migration from XStreetSL to the Marketplace will be delayed one week to January 11, 2011. The fix for WEB-3097 will allow you to clear the XStreetSL ID on a product so it can then be applied to another product (available on the edit listing page). Note that if ratings, reviews, and sales history have already been migrated for a particular XStreetSL ID, they will not be migrated again. This is to prevent this information from being copied to two separate products.
  13. The data cleanup script for WEB-3369 has completed. Please check the products that you had problems with in the past and, if you are still having problems, submit a JIRA with the details so we can investigate. (If you post a comment here, please include the JIRA ID).
  14. A fix for WEB-3369 (Many customers are unable to leave reviews for various reasons) was deployed as part of today's release. This will allow Residents who have received an item on Marketplace from today going forward to leave a review on that item. Over the next couple of days, we will be running a data cleanup script to allow recipients to leave reviews on listings they could not review from purchases during the past 2 weeks. I will post a reply to this comment once that is completed.
  15. Clarification on Which Ratings and Reviews Will Move Only old reviews and ratings that have not already been migrated will be moved. Existing reviews and ratings on Marketplace will not be affected. You should see your product ratings changing during this migration as individual ratings are moved over from XStreetSL. Response to Deletion Concerns XStreetSL: If any ratings or reviews are missing from XStreetSL, please file a JIRA issue with product URLs and additional details on missing data (or please include JIRA id if you have already filed). Note that the number of ratings is very likely going to be much higher than the number of reviews on XStreetSL, since Residents were able to rate a product without a review in the past. Ratings that do not have a review will be migrated without a review. Marketplace: As part of the migration testing, we will be testing to insure that new ratings and reviews on Marketplace products are not deleted as part of the migration. If you do have an example of this having happened on a previous migration, please provide the product URL and details of what occurred in a JIRA issue (or include a pointer to an existing issue). Migration Flag If you want your ratings, reviews and sales history (including sales dates) migrated, you must have migration set to ON. IF MIGRATION IS SET TO OFF, NO RATINGS, REVIEWS, OR SALES HISTORY WILL BE MIGRATED.
  16. We will respect the "off" migration setting. Just to clarify, we will ONLY be migrating the following data (if it has not already been migrated): product ratings product reviews product sales history If people are still experiencing any issues with this migration process, please include JIRA IDs in your comments. Thank you!
  17. The Marketplace team is happy to announce a new function today that should help SL merchants with two important tasks: ensuring the proper data is migrated from XStreetSL to the new Marketplace releasing new versions of their products via a faster and easier process Introducing the Edit Associated Object Function The new Edit Associated Object function allows merchants to change the underlying Marketplace inventory item associated with a product listing. This was previously accomplished via a clunky workaround. The new function will help us with our final migration of product reviews and historical sales data from XStreetSL to the new Marketplace. Going forward, it provides an easier way for merchants to update existing products and release new versions of a product. Some merchants will need to use this to be sure their data gets migrated correctly. Most Marketplace items have already had their data migrated. However, some merchants will have to manually verify that their Marketplace products are associated with the correct XStreetSL items. This applies to you if you have either: manually created any products on the new Marketplace that correspond to XStreetSL products, or renamed Marketplace inventory items in order to release new versions. If so, please verify that your Marketplace products have the correct XStreetSL ID specified before Tuesday, January 4. That date will be the final migration of data from XStreetSL. After migration is complete, we will remove the XStreetSL Product ID field from each product’s Edit Item Listing page. To use the new function, log into the Marketplace, and follow the steps below: 1. Navigate to My Marketplace > Merchant Home 2. Click Manage Inventory 3. Click Edit for an active product listing 4. Under SL Object Name, click, Edit Associated Object 5. In the Change Related Inventory pop-up, search for the Marketplace inventory item you'd like to associate with the product listing, and click on it to select 6. On the main Edit Item Listing page, scroll to the bottom and click Update For more information, see our wiki: Updating a product during Marketplace migration Selling new versions of an existing item
