  1. Hi there! I'm a 3D artist / mesh builder / texture artist etc. I usually work outside of SL as a freelancer, but this is way more fun (of course!) and it's my goal to be able to focus more of my time on making a living through SL. I really love making items for SL, but the product image, graphic design, etc aspect of running a SL business is something I struggle with. I make new items regularly but never end up listing them, or wait months after finishing, because either my product pictures suck, or I just never take them (lol). I hate this aspect of creating. I end up shying away from creating as a whole because of this step. It's really silly. Right now, even calling my brand a brand is a bit of a stretch. Almost all of my item images are using different fonts, colors, etc. It's pretty gross. The items themselves are well recieved, lots of repeat customers, but I think I could do so much more if I weren't held back in the marketing department. My store, Cup of Cozy: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/55475 I have two needs: 1. Someone to take nice product images with context. I have a potted plant item that needs to be listed, for example. I'd like it to be in a garden or on a patio. 2. PSD product advertisement templates (and the rights to keep using them). One for the main marketplace listing, and at least one more for additional pop-up images. Little logo in the bottom corner (I can make this if you don't want to), a very simple border, text formatting ready to go, etc. I have two shops that need these services. My current store, Cup of Cozy, caters to furniture and items you'd expect to see in your first life :P. Antiques, contemporary items, I'll probably add more modern stuff later. My new store called "shula" will be for fantasy, medieval, magical, gorean, etc RP items. Mostly furniture and accessories, maybe weapons. I would LOVE to find someone to be my sole go-to provider. That's my best case scenario. We can discuss a flat fee per product + flat fees for the templates, or even profit sharing. I'm open to your ideas. Reply to this thread or get ahold of me in-world on this name or on AyaShula, the account for my other store and the account I spend more time on. Thanks for reading my long-winded post and I hope you hear from you soon. :)
  2. Hi there. I am a professional 3D artist, specializing in props and environments. I don't make avatars or clothing, but if there are any props, toys, or things of that nature, feel free to send the details my way. I can't promise I will be the cheapest option, but I take pride in the quality of my work. You won't be disappointed. Here are some of my past projects: http://wdekadesigns.tumblr.com http://WhitneyDewel.deviantart.com https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/55475
  3. Hi there! I am a professional 3D artist working in the video game industry. I'm looking to make some extra money (yay student loans..!) by creating high quality custom meshes, textures, environments, etc, for you lovely people. I'm also interested in more generic SL business opportunities. Here is some of my work: http://wdekadesigns.tumblr.com http://WhitneyDewel.deviantart.com https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/55475 Feel free to post here or send me a notecard with information about your project or your potential commission. I'm not interested in making clothing, but I'm open to most other things.
  4. I really appreciate hearing your thoughts and complaints. I currently only have a MP store. My brief experiment with an in-world store only brought me a couple of sales, and was time consuming to set up; it didn't seem worth it to keep around. However, if there are a lot of shoppers who look for items on the MP and then go in-world to get a better look, that means that the lack of in-world store could also be negatively impacting my MP store sales! Food for thought, so thank you! :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2:
  5. I want to point out something that is probably pretty obvious, but I am a little concerned about it. Mesh is the game/film/tv/entertainment/simulation industry standard, which is why LL was so happy to introduce it to SL, and why many of us are also thrilled about it. I am a professional freelance 3D artist as my "day job", and I sell stuff on SL as a hobby. (I'm technically making a teensy tiny bit of money, but it's not nearly enough to consider it anything other than a hobby at this point. It's just really fun! ) I still own the rights to some of what I work on during the day, so sometimes I make edits and optimize them for SL (baking lights, poly count, change textures, add/remove detail; a decent amount of work) and upload them. If you've ever experimented with stock "royalty free" 3D models for their use in SL, you'll know that it's still never as simple as downloading it from a website and sticking it straight in SL. I mean, you could techinically do that, but the product is always going to be significantly lower quality than someone who has put in time to make the mesh and textures look great specifically for SL. So yeah, there are the inevitable high land impact crappily textured **bleep**ty models downloaded from some of these stock websites, and most of them are listed at a low price. This may look threatening, but it's really not. If a customer is only willing to spend 5 lindens on a chair, they're okay with it having a land impact of 55, and they don't mind a crappy texture-- they weren't going to be my customer either way! :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2: Someone with a good eye that had seen my portfolio, played games I've worked on, or otherwise seen the media I've contributed to is going to be able to tell that they're based off of the same mesh. I also have friends and co-workers without personal interest in SL that have sent me their random models with explicit permission to use, too. So, when that inevitably happens, I hope that they send ME a message with their concerns, not a client from months past, or a friend. Under my SL name, they might not even realize it's me, and it could stir up a pretty annoying mess. TL;DR, it's dangerous to our fellow merchants to assume that everyone is a thief. It's a safe bet when you see Hersheys or other clear branding on a product, but models are MUCH trickier. Let's be honest, if everyone is google image searching "modern chair" for reference, there are bound to be some very very similar products on the market!
