mrsss, I agree they do need to be protected from someone luring them to skype, etc. The problem with expecting LL, facebook, etc to do that is that it just doesn't work. There will always be a way around the technological 'barricades' if a teen is determined enough. That's where the parent comes in. There is only so much LL can do, and that was my point. Just look at all the news stories involving craigs list.
I usually don't bother, but I've got a slow morning so I'll address the idiocy. This isn't about guns. This is about teenagers, who are 2 yrs from being legal adults, seeing naughty bits. That is what I posted in reference to. Someone wigging out that a teenager will cam to a mature sim. Newsflash.. teens have naughty bits on their own bodies. And they likely function better than most of the populace of SL anyway
As for being lured away or into adult situations, no website can prevent that. Only an involved parent can. That may strike a nerve with parents who are on SL, but that's the simple truth. There are too many news stories involving children getting around technology, even net-nanny, etc. As a parent myself, I just cant imagine an attitude of wanting to sit back and hope technology can keep my kid safe. And, she's in college now.
