Sure, it would affect Americans until ... companies like Youtube, SecondLife, Flicker, etc etc started closing down due to the american laws.

Hi, I am the Owner and Designer of AngelRED Couture a popular Full Perm Clothing provider in world and on marketplace. I have made all my customers aware of the all three of these acts and the harmful affects they could have on the internet and SL it's self. I have also put up a censorship on my marketplace banner and hope that many other stores will do the same and join me and in making SL residents, store owners and creators aware of these acts, what they are and what they could do to our virtual world and how we can all act to stop it!
I like many, use SL as a form of real life income. I make more money with what I do on here, using my creative artistic skills to provide items for SL users than I ever did being a full time nurse! I don't want to lose that option and neither would anyone else making money off SL. So I ask all store owners! Make your customers aware! Send out notecards, change your marketplace logos (Here is mine: AngelRED Couture @ Marketplace) Send out links to sites and videos that explain the laws aswell as sites like the wiki blackout page (https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/SOPA/Blackoutpage) that gives US residents a quick way to contact all their senators and state representatives. Every ones word counts! My states senate has recently changed his mind and has decided that he is going to oppose the acts on internet censorship because of all our messages to him about how we feel it is not right! So, do the same!
Also, don't forget this doesn't just apply to the US! This applies to ALL countries! The affects of the PIPA and SOPA laws affect us ALL! Plus, a law that not many are talking about that is also trying to be passed is the ACTA law. It is by the same Hollywood people trying to get PIPA and SOPA to go through except the ACTA law is WORLDWIDE. It will apply to EVERYONE's censorship not just America's. So please, let everyone you know, know about this. We all need to be aware of what's at stake here!

I'm confused aswell, LL's should very much be against SOPA and PIPA bills passing. I am disapointed that they did not black out SL today. I put a banner up on my very popular marketplace store AngelRED because I opose this 150%. I am an American for one.. I'm an artist and a creator.. I have paintings on Deviantart which deviantart I am disapointed in too because they are also a site that should have been in on this because much like SL if this bill passes they very likely will shut down due to being fined over all the many occurances of copyright abuse by it's users. All user created sites, communities and virtual worlds and games will be compromised if this passes. It is very likely that they will no longer exsist.
Maybe the Mayan calender meant 2012 will be the END OF THE INTERNET because if this bill passes, the internet will NEVER be the same.. SL will most likely close . I use SL as a RL income through my store. I create full perm clothing templates and make a good living off of it. I and many other creators, realtors and others who depend on SL as real like income may very well lose that luxury if this is passed. I ask that ALL SL STORE OWNERS CHANGE YOUR MARKETPLACE BANNER TO BLACK CENSORED AS I HAVE. This will spread the word. The more people know about the horrible affects this bill can have on our virtual world the more we can all do to help veto this bill!

An in world court would be amazing for so many in sl.I was amazed when I found my sl/rl lawyer Monday Beam .. when all this started I was affraid I wouldnt find any lawyer to help that would know about sl or even take it seriously.. I wouldnt care but my store and my brand means alot to me this is the first time ive ever been able to pay rl bills and support my child through my art and that feels amazing and I don't want to lose that for things that I'm not even at fault for..

A false dmca was filed against me earlier this week, I filed my counter claim and LL ip team emailed me saying it was okay to put my item back up now.
I asked for the person who filed this false claims infomation because from what I have read and heard I am supposed to be able to see their sl and rl information after I filed my counter claim. I want the information because I have full intend to press charges for them knowingly filing a false dmca .. Anyway, my question is how do I get this persons information like I'm supposed to be able to? How do I press charges if the information is not released? And why does linden lab not care that people are filing false dmca's on an innocent long time resident? That is against the law! I'd think that would care.. -_-

Hello, I'd like to get some peoples insight and opinions on this. I own a well know store in SL. I sell mostly full perm clothing templates. All my clothing templates are made from me, from scratch either by rl clothing inspiration of just something I come up with from my OWN brain.. So, a few months ago I heard from a girl that many high priced template store owners are mad because since my store opened they have lost sales because I sell my products at very low prices even though they are very high quality. I blew it off until last week. I recieved a DMCA notification for one of my outfits claiming that the bikini in the pack was owned by some other store owner. She imed me and told me she did this so me being stupid and nieve about DMCA's I took it very lightly and instead of taking the product down I gave it away for free to my customers in my midnight board, so I got suspended over that. That's my fault. Now, yesterday I got yet another DMCA from someone and I don't know who the person is who filed this one yet. But, it was on one of my older templates which I give away in my lucky chairs, it was also for sale in my store and on marketplace. In the dmca email it only requested that I remove it from my lucky chairs thought o.O and also it said that if I recieve more DMCA's that my account will be terminated from SL another words my store will be closed.
My question is, has anyone experienced anything like this? With these reports being so close together and because I know for a stone cold fact that all my templates are in fact mine and my creations alone I am pretty positive that this is the act of other store owners harassing me through DMCA reports.
I know when you file one you don't even have to show evidence... you only have to put the location of work and the name of it in the notification. So, what stops people from reporting litterally ANYTHING!??! Just to harrass others for their own greedy agendas...
So, how do I report this. I am faxing my counter notifications for both dmca reports today, but how do I report the harassment.. I want LL to be aware of the false notifications and harassment so that I won't get terminated if someone decideds to do this again. Also, I won't know who the second notification came from until after I file my counter one... I just don't know what to do. I have gone as far as to legally trademark my store brand last night, I've also made a youtube that I am going to use to record every single template I make so EVERYONE can see that yes, I do in fact make my own templates. I think that will help guard me in the future some but I just see a lack of communication on LL's part as far as DMCA's go, plus if anyone can claim that anything on the marketplace or sl is theres what stops people from tearing a store down when they want them gone?
Someone please help and give me some insight... thank you much

Okay I own AngelRED Couture. For 9/11 I gave away one of my template packs for 0L for that day ONLY. At midnight my time I switched the price to what it normally would be. Now sometimes it sells for the normal price and sometimes it says it sold for 0L. I don't understand this and I know I could just replace the item with a new one in the magicbox but this shirt has a ton of sales and many good reviews and is one of the top in the templates section so I really don't want to do that. Any suggestions on how to fix this withouth doing that? The marketplace owes me like 6k because of all this -_-

SOPA, PIPA & ACTA - Let's Raise Awareness throughout SL!

Well, I was going to be upset over your marketplace remark. But, then I saw your next sentence able getting in the streets and giving them information that way and it made me smile!
No, I myself am not using this issue as a benefit for myself. I do see where your coming from though and know that idiots out there use ANY social issue as a way to boost their own greedy personal needs. But, no my banner is simple to put the question in those minds who don't know or haven't heard about this issue yet. If only to provoke a meir Google search by the viewer.
My hope is to just get the word out through SL so that they can contact they're representatives. And it does count, because one of my states senators changed his opinion on this matter and has now put his name on the opposing side along with 18 other state senators across the US and perhaps more today. Yes, half of these people known nothing of the internet because they don't use it. But, public opinion matters to them because as your said they need our votes soon. So, Blowing up they're email box, writing them letters, calling them, showing up at they're office door will make an effect and already has. All we as the people can do is TELL them that we want our internet to be free and open not censored.
Yes, Obama said he would veto the bill as it is now. But, Obama is sneaky as many of us already know. If one tiny change is made to it is he going to go ahead and let it through? I personally don't take his 'word' as a very strong reason to let this issue go. I use the internet daily, I work online, I go to school online. I am able to support my child through my SL income. I am able to communicate with family through Facebook that I would have never become close to otherwise. I am able to share my opinions, share my music and my digital art through Youtube. I don't want to lose any of that. As I'm sure many others wouldn't want to lose that either.
The point is. As far as Second Life goes, if these bills are passed we can pretty much say BYE to SL. And that is the cold hard truth of the matter. DJ's and streaming radio will be blocked as it would infringe upon copyright laws. So, no more clubs or streaming music in SL. That in it's self is enough to send thousands of SL users running for the hills. That will be less revenue for LL not to mention The US government may just shut SL down all together because the fact that anyone could be uploading and sharing copyrighted material through SL at anytime. Many users like me will lose their real life income and they're platform to share what they are good at be it creating, designing, scripted etc etc.
We don't want to lose this! So, I feel even if putting up a silly banner on marketplace is only reaching a few thousand people a day, that's hundreds of people a day who don't know or haven't heard of this issue and will then look it up and learn how dangerous this could be.
