  1. Hello Chipley,

This is an issue that was reported within the past week and is a bug affecting users who had content for sale on the old Xstreet SL web site but didn't create a store when the Second Life Marketplace went live on 6 October 2010.

When those users attempt to create a store now they the web site continues to show the Terms of Service page.

We are actively working to locate the cause of this bug and to fix this issue.

Since no Public Jira Ticket had been created prior to today, we have created one to allow users to Watch the Jira,  notify the Dev Team if their account is one affected, and to receive and be notified of updates to the progress regarding a solution and fix for this issue.

    https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-4311

  2. Hello November,

This is an issue caused by an interruption in communications with the sellers Magic Box.  If the Magic Box cannot contact the web site back to confirm that the item was sent then the order is failed and you are refunded.

Please pay the seller directly in world and send them a notecard explaining that you were refunded for the purchase.

You may also include a direct link to this Forum Thread so that the seller will be able to see my reply to you.

Any seller that has had this issue happen should immediately submit a Support Case Type for Marketplace and then Marketplace Listing Issues and Customer Support will be able to help them reset and test their Magic Boxes.

  3. Hello Darrius

If you wish, you may name the cube Test Object to easliy locate the item on the list, otherwise the item will show up just as Object since that is the default name on the cube.

    Hello Toysolider

Please remember that the Magic Box Status Page applies to the Xstreet SL web site.  All items that have been added to your Magic Box since the 6 October 2010 when the Xstreet SL web site was shut off will be shown under the Unassociated Inventory Column on that page.

Now that the Marketplace has deployed code to host its own Unassociated Inventory section on your Manage Inventory Page, it is no longer necessary to rely on that column on the Xstreet SL web site.

The only information that is still needed on the Magic Box Status Page is the location of the Magic Boxes under the Registered Servers section at the bottom left.

    Hello Arwen,

Please remember that the migration of product listings from the Xstreet SL web site to the Second Life Marketplace did not complete until Q1 2011.

Even though your product may have been listed on the Xstreet SL web site in 2009, or for some, 2005, the Second Life Marketplace web site did not exist back then.

The date on your Manage Inventory Page will correspond to the date that the item was submitted to the Second Life Marketplace web site, not the old, closed, defunct, Xstreet SL web site.

Yo! CTL! Are there any defining characteristics or symptoms that we "mere mortals" can identify that absolutely clearly indicate that the region needs to be restarted due to the "region not permitting specific types of communications out to the web site"?

If we have some solid way of identifying this exact cause then we can be more proactive in helping others when they report the identifying symptoms.

    Hello Darrius

A very easy test can be done. Add a blank, full permission, builders cube to the Magic Box.

If it does not show up on the Marketplace, then 99.999% of the time it is because the region is not allowing communications out to the web site.

  5. Hello Lasher

The issue you are reporting is not because of the deploy today. It is an issue with your region not permitting specific types of communications out to the web site.

Dakota has restarted the region for you and this should correct the issue.

If it does not, please submit a support case so that you can be helped further.

  6. Thanks to all of you who have reported issues with receiving accepted deliveries.  We are working on investigating this issue, but we need more details in a JIRA to proceed.  We have created SVC-7491 for your convenience.  Please add details on your experience to this JIRA. Include the following:

    • Environment details: from the menu Help > About Second Life, click “Copy to Clipboard” and paste that into the JIRA.
    • Order number
    • Item name(s)
    • Detailed steps of what happened

Thank you for providing details to help us more quickly address the issue.

NOTE: this thread was moved from the Merchants Forum.

    Hi,

I am shopping away and spending quite a few lindens...but I'm not getting the products. The order goes through, the merchant sends, I click ok when the grey box pops up and asks if I accept....and then the item is NOT placed in my inventory. If it was free stuff I would just let it ride, but it isn't. Contacting several merchants has produced zero response because I imagine that having clicked OK they figure it is not their issue, and they are right. How can I get the items that are supposedly mine now and yet nowhere in my inventory.

Note: I have gone through all of the recommended steps that you all were kind enough to give me when this problem started a week or so ago. It's still happening, and the steps still don't fix it. I am about ready to stop shopping, which would be a bummer.

Please check to ensure that your Objects folder is clear.  If there are too many products in that folder your SL Inventory may not be able to show the products that have been received.

If you have purchased the products through Marketplace remember to submit a Failed Delivery Report through the Support Portal so that the items can be redelivered to you.

We are experiencing non-payment issues at the moment. Customer receives product money taken from their account - No money is received this being going on for days now.  magic box says delievred, customer confirms rcvd.. we get no money and report says delivered failed

Please contact Support through the Support Portal with the applicable order numbers and a member of Support will be able to research this issue and assist you.

Ensure that you select Marketplace as the type and then General Marketplace Issues so that your case is routed correctly.

  9. Thanks to all of you who alerted us to this issue. We will be rolling back the change that resulted in this bug by the end of the day today (SLT).

For those of you concerned about your transaction data being incorrect after the roll back: the transaction data is all there, but when the report is downloaded, Display Name and Username fields are being combined. Once the roll back is done, the reports will no longer combine the Display Name and Username fields into the same column.

  10. The Direct Delivery FAQ has been updated with answers to some of the additional questions posted in this thread. Many are difficult to explain without an actual example of the system, including screen shots. We are working on preparing knowledge base articles for the open Direct Delivery Beta Testing in December. This, along with the actual Beta, should clear up most questions.

For reference, here are the additional questions added to the FAQ (over and above the ones from last week).

Q: Will buyers be notified of the delivery method?

A: Instructions will be provided after purchase to help customers locate and use their products, based upon the delivery method. Merchants may choose to tell consumers which delivery method will be used by adding that information to the item listing.

Q: Will folders in the Merchant Outbox need to be sent to the Marketplace or will Marketplace automatically detect new folders in the Outbox and grab them?

A: In the Second Life Viewer, the Merchant must click a button to move folders from the Merchant Outbox to the Merchant’s Marketplace inventory. Third-party viewers have access to the API call required to do this, so will those viewers be able to provide the same functionality as the Second Life Viewer.

Q: What exactly is the Marketplace inventory?  Are items in this inventory easy for others to access?

A: The Marketplace inventory is composed of all the folders and objects intended for sale through a merchant’s Marketplace account. The only ways that these inventory items may be accessed are:

    • A customer may access item after a purchase has been completed and the item has been delivered to the customer’s inventory.
    • Merchants may access inventory items through the Merchant Admin to view those items, return them to their inworld inventory, or try a test purchase.
  11. Thank you for all of the questions! We have tried to pull out the questions up to about 1pm SLT today and are posting them here with answers. We will review next week for additional questions.

Q: Do I need to create a folder for everything I plan to list on the Marketplace, even if I am selling fully boxed items?

A: Creating a folder is not necessary. If you are using the Second Life Viewer, and you drag an item into the Merchant Outbox, a folder will be created having the same name as the item.  The newly created folder will contain the item. For example, an item named “Furry Cat” dragged into the Merchant Outbox will cause a folder called “Furry Cat” to be created.  “Furry Cat” the item will be inside the folder.

Q: How will folders work on the Marketplace?

A: Each top-level folder in the Merchant Outbox will become an inventory item on the Marketplace, named according to the scheme described above. Merchants and customers will be able to view the full folder hierarchy on the Marketplace to determine if all items and folders have been delivered.

Q: What are the capacity limits of the Merchant Outbox?

A: Only the first 100 folders in the Merchant Outbox will be pushed to the Marketplace at a time. For example, the 1st through 100th folders would all be pushed, but the 101st and remaining would not be pushed until the next attempt.

Example: For EACH folder in the Merchant Outbox, there can be up to 200 objects in total (regardless of whether there are sub-folders). For example, attempts to transfer these “Furry Cats” and “Furry Dogs” folders would both fail:

    • Furry Cats
      • Cat 1
      • Cat 2
      • ...
      • Cat 204
    • Furry Dogs
      • Large Dogs
        • Large Dog 1
        • Large Dog 50
      • Small Dogs
        • Small Dog 1
        • Small Dog 151

For EACH folder in the Merchant Outbox, there can be up to 20 folders in total. These folders may be up to 4 folder levels deep in total, including the folder just under the Merchant Outbox. For example, “Furry Dogs\Large Dogs\Large Brown Dogs\Large Brown Short Haired Dogs” is an allowed folder depth. But “Furry Dogs\Large Dogs\Large Brown Dogs\Large Brown Short Haired Dogs\Large Brown Short Haired Blue Eyed Dogs” would be rejected. Each folder at ANY level in the hierarchy will be counted as a folder, including the top level “Furry Dogs” folder.

Q: Do we have to use folders?

A: No. It’s OK to keep products boxed up.

Example: A texture Merchant would like to sell a bulk package of textures.

With Magic Boxes, the Merchant would either (1) place all the textures into a box, then place that box into the Magic Box, or (2) sort the textures into folders, place the folders into a box, and then place the box into the Magic Box.

With Direct Delivery, instead of placing the items from either scenario 1 into a Magic Box, they are placed into a folder. Instead of placing the folders from scenario 2 into a box, they are placed into a folder. The folder is then copied to the Merchant Outbox for pushing to the Marketplace.

Q: What’s the migration process for moving my items from Magic Boxes to Direct Delivery listings?

A: The process is not completed yet. Once a process is working in test, we will communicate the details. We are working on a method that will not require each listing to be edited to replace the Magic Box inventory item with a Direct Delivery inventory item.

  12. Thank you, Sassy. To clarify, if you wanted to take your box of 300 textures, leave it in a box, and sell it on the Marketplace, the Marketplace would only see a count of 1 item. You may optionally decide to create 10 boxes for your textures (separating by color, texture type, etc), and the Marketplace would see a count of 10 items.

    Does that help?

I've been having a lot of problems with this too. Today I had someone tell me the marketplace took his L$ and he never received the product. I looked at my transaction history and there was no record of him purchasing. He broke down and bought it at my in world store.

Needless to say a lot of sales are getting lost. I never got the L$, he never got the product. I have no idea how many times this has happened. A lot of people get scammed out there and just move on without saying anything.

Yesterday, the marketplace wasn't working in FF7 either. I don't know what LL is doing but the marketplace is really hurting.

Please contact Customer Support with the MKT Order Number and they will be happy to research the issue for you.

  15. The Second Life Commerce Forums are intended for public discussions among Second Life Residents regarding commerce in Second Life. Linden Lab monitors the forums, as time allows, to determine if follow-up is needed by a Linden Lab staffer.  However, there is no guarantee that issues posted to the forum will be discovered in a timely manner, so please use the contact methods in this post to notify the Lab of any issues. Bear in mind, as well, that posts may be removed or edited if they are in violation of the Community Guidelines or Second Life Terms of Service.

As a rule, Linden Lab does not address support requests or bug reports through the Second Life Forums. If a Linden Lab staffer is made aware of a customer service issue on the Forums, you may be contacted directly or asked to submit a customer support ticket or JIRA.

    Submitting a Customer Support Ticket

If you have an issue with the Marketplace, submit a customer support ticket, select Marketplace as the type of problem and choose among these options::

    • Marketplace failed delivery: If you have not received an item you paid for, please submit a support request that includes the order number and the name(s) of the item(s) that failed to be delivered. You may also contact the seller directly.
    • General Marketplace issues: Use if you have one of the following issues:
      • Commission refund: If you are a merchant and you have refunded a customer for a purchase, Linden Lab will refund the commission to you. Please refund the entire price to the customer, then submit a ticket that includes the SLM order number, buyer’s name, and the line from your Second Life transaction history.
      • Bug reports: If you believe you have found a new bug and are not sure if you should file a JIRA, please submit a ticket with details on the problem. Include what you were doing when you encountered the issue, the exact text of error messages, the operating system and browser versions you are using, and screen shots if possible.
      • Marketplace item listing issues: Select if you are a merchant and have questions about Listing Enhancements, product listings, or listing guidelines. In your ticket, please include a link to the item you have questions about.
      • Shopping cart issues: please submit a ticket with details on what you are seeing.
      • Negative reviews for failed deliveries: you should flag the review instead of using the Customer Support Portal.
      • Any other issue that does not fall into the above categories.

If you have an issue with an inworld purchase, then you should contact the seller(s) of the item you purchased for customer support. If you are a merchant and your systems are failing to deliver items or appropriately transfer money, follow up with your vending system supplier. If you are the vending system builder and you believe there is a bug that is causing you problems, please file a JIRA with details.

    Filing a JIRA

If you find an issue that you believe is a bug, you can file a JIRA instead of submitting a support case. Before you file a JIRA, please determine if the JIRA already exists. For details on how to search JIRA, please see the wiki for help.

If you file a JIRA for a Marketplace issue, include these pertinent details:

    • The project should be “1. BUG Project”
    • The component should be “Marketplace”
    • Environment: include the version number and type of the following (only include the applicable):
      • Operating System
      • Browser
      • Viewer
      • Sim
    • Details on what happened:
      • What were you doing when you saw the bug?
      • What had you just done?
      • What is the impact of the bug to you and, if applicable, your customers?
      • Account names, order numbers, links to listings, etc.
