  1. My region has been resarted twice today by LL and once by me before hand and the server code has been changed to :- Second Life Server 2020-01-23T00:43:42.53512

it was :-  Second Life Server 2020-02-05T22:16:31.536040 ?

I did have problems with the region crashing one or twice a week and LL moved it to another server last week, not sure whats going on.

  2. Hi everyone, since LL did a double rolling restart at the end of last year my region crashes once a week on average, its a standard sl region, sim10100.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.48.166:13015)

anyone else experiencing crashes ? I have spoken to one other person that says their region is also crashing about one a week for some weeks!

I have opened a support ticket but was curious if anyone elese expeiriencing simmilar issues?

Send an email to the mpaa or the fcc and ask them :)

The person or company streaming the music requires a 'license' not the service provider that's a fact so if you rent shoutcast streams out to others you do not need a license because your not streaming the content your customer is, otherwise data centers that 'rent' shoutcast streams would be paying the license and the renter would not be!

I wonder how many of the people screaming about privacy here post their pictures and all sorts of private information on places like facebook? Or even read the terms of agreement on any of the services they sign up to, or when installing software just click the "agree" button in a hurry because they need the software. Companies like Google their business model is collecting and using/selling your personal data, yet everyone uses it and signs up on their services. People putting their info online on job sites, linked in, dating apps, just about everywhere.

But now a company that you have used for their services for many years, ask for some aditional information only from people using a part of their services (cashing out) because they are legally bound by law to do so, and all of a sudden we worry about our privacy?

I am privacy focused and have never used FB (fb is an evil bad actor) and there is not one photo of me on the net.

Remember this one rule.  Keep yourself legal and get a broadcasters license.   https://live365.com/broadcaster/pricing/

There are others too.  somebody will groan at me, but just be safe and legal and make sure you have your ducks in a row,  if not and you get popped the fines/fee's are not going to be little.

That,s not true, the service provider does not need a license, the person that rents the stream and streams the music does.

Ok So LL was playing favorites with the cakes back then. Not surprising. And as I said in my post above, I've never gotten one in 15 years. Not even when I was premium.

I got one years ago, I have never been premium in all my time. but i often don't get emails from LL on my main my alt does and my main is setup to get emails etc.

I get MP emails just not all announcements from LL.

People saying that they hate LL now, wow. If you get that upset over a virtual world, what's your temper like regarding rl matters?

During my time in SL, I've never had hate for LL. When issues came up, I realized that things like that happen, no biggie, go read a book or something. When fees were raised, I would figure out how to make it work or not. My life is not SL, and no one's else should be. Even the employees, creators, etc need to have a plan b. Tomorrow things could be drastically changed in our world and this thread will seem like a waste of time. Stop looking at SL as your be all, instead breathe and try to enjoy life. Look for things that you have in life and be grateful, because someone else wishes that they were you.

If less groups and raised fees cause someone to get that upset then maybe you should back away for a bit. Or leave.

Never put all your eggs in one basket. If you depend on SL for anything, you should start planning on other ways to supplement your financial needs, other ways to help you socialize. Tomorrow SL can go under. Then what?

I don't 'hate' LL but I do dislike them big time, and so about 3 years ago I stopped making new content apart from Halloween and Christmas, I don't log in every day as i used to and I did what you said i wen't else where.

OK, made it to page 20 of (currently) 30. Wow, this has sparked debate in-world, on this forum and elsewhere. Glad to see the Lindens participate, though. And this has got to be the most intelligent thread in a long time here. Last time I saw a Linden in-world was maybe two years ago. Don't remember the first name, but he was pouring drinks...

Should I decide to renew my premium, could I donate my extra 10 group spots to someone who is not? I'd gladly do that ;)

Here is an idea why don't LL create a poll and ask premium members if they want / need more groups to the detriment of basic accounts?

I have no problem expecting basic benefits and functions, however i dont expect them to be lowered for no reason. Before anyone quotes @Grumpity Linden again, she said groups cause a burden on the back end of things.

Currently basic members get 42 groups
               premium members get 60 groups
for a total of 102 groups.

    The new groups list

                     basic members get 35 groups
               premium members get 70 groups
for a total of 105 groups.

How does 105 groups ease the burden on the back end over 102 groups?  Is this Trump logic at work here?

    Slap
    In
    The
    Face

to the people who built SL.

Its because its a con to make more money, less people are using SL now as it is. LL need funds for Sansar and any other projects they may have planed, maybe their own VR rig? who knows?

You know its that old trick drug dealers use, give out free drugs then once addicted you have to pay, its the same principle here give something then take it away when your used to it unless you pay its gangster mentality at its best!

Go to the members & roles tab in your group window, select the members tab.
You now get a list of all members of your group, click the 'title' button at the right to sort all members by the last time they've been online.

Now select everyone who hasn't been online for a month, a year, years, whatever you think is too long to be offline.
Personally I evict people who haven't been online for a year.

Once you've selected the names, click eject.

Thanks Jo I will take a look at that when i log in. I have saved that into a note on my desktop so i don't have to hunt for it :)

My club group has over 7000 members.  Its not a lie at all.  Our group functions are sluggish a lot of the time, and chat doesn't always pop open, nor do messages always go through.

Yes my 11 year old club group goes up between 10-30 a day its currently at 15,383 members, sometimes as the owner of it i don't get notices when i am online, I was thinking some time ago of ejecting people that had not logged on in over a year but i am not sure there is a bulk way to eject avs like that and I am not sitting for weeks on end ejecting people one at a time.

It will still be 10 more groups than the 25 that *everyone* was capped at for years.  //dealwithit

Also, in typical hysteria fashion, you distribute *wrong* paranoid information:

If you already have your 42 groups or whatever, you get to keep all of them. You simply cannot *join a new group* until you are under the new limit.

Reading the Linden Lab post about the changes is one thing. Comprehending them is entirely another. :|

I don't think you comprehend it.

Actually, when comes to coding, Second Life Groups are similar to SQL and Oracle forums when it comes to storing notices, chats, and group activity. They keep it all on the servers. They take up massive amounts of valuable data. Especially very active groups like advertising groups and large store groups. I, for one, will not drop groups I paid to join. That might be something to consider if wanting to combat people dropping your group to get down below 35 slots.

They don't store it for long as Asadora said 2 weeks. Forums store posts / threads for years. the amount of data space text take up is minute compared to images/textures.
