  1. Your first pickup truck analogy was bad. If SL is the Toyota pickup truck, and that is the ONLY pickup truck, then it cannot be outclassed by every other pickup truck, because there are no other trucks. If there used to be a other pickup trucks, but they all broke down or their companies went bankrupt because no one buyed them, then the Toyota SL was indeed, the best pickup truck. Also, saying that if combined a bunch of modern games, they would be better than SL makes no sense, because no one is making that imaginary Frankenstein game, and you dont know if it would work, for a million reasons. There are a lot of things to complain about in SL, but give credit where credit is due, amongst the user created virtual worlds, SL is seems to be, so far, the one has worked best.
  2. Maybe you have been looking in the wrong places. A lot of the issues you will find making mesh, you will find the answer in Blender forums, pretty much the SL skeleton and exporting are the only topics where SL exclusive tutorials are needed. In-world groups will also be a better resource than google when finding resources. And lastly, Id like to point out that being creative and being marketable are two different roads, particularly if you are new to building in SL. Having said that, I hope you have luck and keep building and being creative. check the ginko page
  3. Like it was said upthread, dont let the uploader do anything for you if you dont want it to mess your build. Also if the odd shading are shading artifacts, you might want to select the whole thing and do a Mesh > Normals > Average > Face area,
  4. The best way to game land impact, for me, has been giving objects the most simple physics model. But physics and land impact are pretty irrelevant when it comes to wearables. If your problem of high li is with objects you have to rezz, like a houses or decoration, I recomend giving them simple physics models, and splitting the object in several parts, because SL doesnt like big physical mesh with a lot of volume. IF you are making wearables, like the handbag you show, then I wouldnt worry about li, and focus on performance, like it was said upthread, by creating multiple LODs.
  5. You have to sign a document where you allow the land owner to make NFTs of the residents, is what I imagine.
