  1. As suggested https://feedback.secondlife.com/ldpw/p/satori-extend-route-8-to-sw here, there is right now a lot of interconnected abandoned land in several regions neighbouring the stump end of Route 8 on http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Soulgiver/147/53 region Soulgiver. On this map, all that abandoned land is colored cyan:

    Route8toSW.thumb.png.343d8e7137d1ec1b5bfee2427c33e807.png

Overlaid on the abandoned land you can see a proposed extension to Route 8, making use of the available path through mostly abandoned regions Gnoll and Dakhanavar and snaking forked additions through Vampyre, Succubus, and Ever After, each ending in a new road stub, allowing for future long term extension.

This is a good idea in general, I think, but the fact that there's abandoned land on northeast Oathkeeper right next to the stub end of the road in Soulgiver, which could be gone at any time, makes this an urgent task. If you think this is a good idea, even in a reduced or otherwise modified form, please add a favorable comment in the https://feedback.secondlife.com/ldpw/p/satori-extend-route-8-to-sw discussion.

  2. Yay, this is so exciting!! 😍

I’m at SSPSubtle Joy: The windlight here is very different from the LH (or LL?) default, very experimental!

a 3-way connection at Admiral Bligh or Marimba doesn’t look likely, as the landscaping there seems complete, and the same for Grey Ghost

While that’s still true, the newly added segment of rail line on southeast Medisseria (with stations on ) looks like it will connect with Sakura at it eastern end (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SSPOtro Gallo/243/50/21) and at the other end (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SSPEtoile Brillante/57/13/21) either it will be a dead end or somehow it will connect southwards at Admiral Bligh or Marimba — or something else less obvious.

I’m hoping for a branch going eastwards from Kodokuna Josei or Jolly Serpent but there’s no guarantee as it would need a reworking of the existing coastal line at Grey Ghost or somewhere less obvious.

Also not known whether those junctions will be forks or whys (I learned new words and I will use them!) and, if the former, in which direction they will be pointing.

With all that in mind I updated my SL Mainland rail map with the new stretch of railway: Yellow is existing track and red is future conjectural.

Only 19 additional regions now needed to connect Bellisseria protected water to Sansara protected water at Bleaberry Tarn.

And only two, more or less, to connect at region Dunvegan — where there have been for some months LL' parcels with the promising name "pending protected status", at the eastern end of a string of contiguous LL owned parcels set as "Protected Land", along 4 regions and connecting to the LL road at region Drum.

This connection will/would only be usable once there’s an uncluttered path in eastern Dunvegan (will the owners of “.: Land of Moon Pie .:” ever abbandon their parcel?, and would LL grab it for protected status?…), and one or two ocean connecting regions are added, and that after the completion of the western coast of Ranchland.

And, due to the way the east coast of Sansara is set up (unlike, say, the waterway between Weston and Sandra), that connection would still offer no sailing/boating-only connections, as one would have to change from watercraft to all-terrain land vehicle at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Rumgally/223/165/20

But still, it’s fantastic to see the map growing!

  5. Four new regions appeared at the northwest end of Ranchland, in a flipped "L" shape north of Uncanny Valley:

    • (1039;1000) Eastbound Downs
    • (1039;0999) Tulsa Thyme
    • (1039;0998) Delta Dawn
    • (1038;0998) Los Topos

Tiles not yet visible on the main map.

I wonder what it is, or will be: One more bit of Ranchland, or a connection to another theme land?

However, in the case of Mirandela, it's also possible that LL could decide to follow the ranch coastline southwards, in which case there could be a fully residential region south of you.  Hard to say.

It's not impossible that coastal rail could show up as well ... the coastal Ranch line is suggestive, but I see no branches on it as yet

That's what I’m hoping for, too. Although it's looking increasingly unlikely:

    SLallrails.4.thumb.png.4ad864e148561553db71a56577e15c0f.png

In this (updated) map, the red line is what seems to be the simplest connection between the two Bellisseria lines, via Sakura. But a 3-way connection at Admiral Bligh or Marimba doesn’t look likely, as the landscaping there seems complete, and the same for Grey Ghost.

Maybe the definitive connection, if it ever happens, will be less direct, through areas that are still not built, north of the current limits of Bellisseria?

As for Mirandela, well, the RL station there, although sadly closed, is really charming: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirandela_railway_station

P.S.: Sadly,  East Osprey Junction turned out to be a regular region, no tracks there, let alone a train station.

Yes, at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Giddyup/128/128… And interestingly, across the void from here, there lies region Dunvegan (one square up, three squares left) on eastern Sansara, where we can see a parcel named «pending protected status», at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dunvegan/117/126, at the end of an unbroken string of parcels named «Protected Land» that goes on water and land through regions Dunbeath, Rumgally, Big Mushamush, and Dauphin, to meet the end of an (unnamed) LL road at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Drum/163/52 — where it connects to the whole Sansara road network! 😍

Yes, please! I meanwhile updated this map showing railways on Mainland+Bellisseria. As before, yellow indicates existing tracks and red shows possible / sought / likely connections.

Ranch's region-wide black covers are all gone now, but the world map still hasn't updated enough just yet. Hopefully, we'll see all the regions more clearly Soon™.

Right now, the only regions of Ranchland still cloaked black are:

    • Callaghan
    • Deadpan
    • Buttercup Lane
    • Hundred Prim Woods

All the others are visible (with Overall, as said, looking flat and empty), including the new added water regions, from Sunken Treasure to Full Fathom Five.

Patch announces that Zindra continent is to be completed!

At 47:10 Patch mentions the CLPP — Community Land Partnership Program and says there's a wiki page about it, but https://search.secondlife.com/ gives 0 hits for "CLPP" and 10 thousand SEO spam mis-hits for "Community Land Partnership Program" (because search engines everywhere have become useless these days 😠). Any tips?

the recently added island between regions Dunbar and Regatta

Does it have a name, by the way?

Also: What's with the tree canopy or ground colors on region SSPHollins Beach?: It looks slightly bluer (tealer?) than that on the surrounding regions.

  15. Dunbar-Regatta.thumb.png.7493051774f372970173ee6e296fdd83.png

The northern part of the recently added island between regions Dunbar and Regatta is now available on the map, although without map tiles yet. I cannot go check it right now, but wanted to leave here a heads-up.

The new regions go from 1033;950 to 1038;949 and their names are, from west to east, northern row:

    1. SSPEast Fowell
    2. SSPWickersham
    3. SSPButtonhole
    4. SSPPenuche
    5. SSPPeacework
    6. SSPLittle Redmound
    7. SSPOutlandish

    and then, sothern row:

    1. SSPHeartwood Farms
    2. SSPGroenewold
    3. SSPBissell Sweep
    4. SSPThursdays Child
    5. SSPSuperb Owl
    6. SSPSouth Weedout

  16. I meanwhile updated the map with “all” Mainland railways. Right now it can be argued that there's more LL rail tracks in Bellisseria (or LH lands in general) than elsewhere (Heterocera still has the densest network, though).

Please see in yellow all existing track, and in red conjectural expansions, presuming that the whole network is meant to be interconnected futurely. (And in shades of purple, the areas apparently cleared for further Bellisseria expansion, following the original map by @SarahKB7 Koskinen .)

    SLallrails.2.thumb.png.7cc57dee18b277402a0004d6db2b71c7.png

I see no obvious connecting point between the eastern and western portions of the existing network, except for a junction (fork or wye — learn new words, yay!) at Grey Ghost, which is unsual or even unlikely, as pointed out, since this region was recently landscaped and major changes to Bellissieria regions have ocurred only very exceptionally. (See photo below: the new track would have to come from the sea at the bottom of this image, by tunnel or bridge, and connect to either or both ends of this curve.)

    GreyGhost_001s.png.7085d8eeedd7429a3714560748698c80.png

The conjectural segment from the junction at Grey Ghost would connect with the rest of the network at another junction (also fork or wye) on Jolly Serpent or Menhaden, just south of Sakura (both are 100% water regions, the geography being similar to area south of the new WelcomeHub).

    GullyWash_001s.png.6273a0c49c0ae38aaa11cfd89077e202.png

The way the track forks at Gully Wash (photo above), splitting from the south (left of the image) to east (bottom) and west (top), aligns the new segment with the main line, reinforcing the notion that the segment that ends in the loop on region Bridle Path is but a branch line, although there is room to transform the Gully Wash fork into a wye (triangle junction).

Meanwhile these three regions are now visible on the map: no map texture tiles yet, but clickable, with region name, green dots and number for the people on it, rating, and and grid numbers:

    • 1051;975 - Rubber Ducky
    • 1051;974 - All Tuna
    • 1051;973 - Three Sheets

Great stuff, I love it! Congratulations and thanks to all the envolved Lindens and Moles!

There's now track on this spot, as reported, and it includes a fork to the east, so maybe that's where a connection to the rail head in Sakura will happen.

the welcome hub is connected now to the logs. In-progress ocean regions at the moment, but there's the start of a coast and it looks like the log rail will connect to the station in the welcome hub area.

OMG, yes!! This is me, looking northwards from http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/WelcomeHubLindenHomes/94/5/25 on a rail bridge that seems to be meant to extend southwards 3 regions to meet with the rail head on region Moose Tracks; the station itself is named Palmerston and has a short single-track with one of those end-of-track thingies at the top (and it has a rezzzone, too!).

The first of these three regions is named Rubber Ducky. They are not visible nor clickable for me on the map in any way, but it's possible to go on them.

I don't think LL has the resources to scour mainland constantly to check where they have free space to make more roads, so in this instance, it's up to residents to request this via the Jira system if they find an area where it could work.

This happened for the easternmost section of The Shortcut, on Jeogeot — see https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-231165 — it took six months to be attended to, though, and indeed the JIRA ticket is still marked as accepted but still unresolved.

But if you look at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nangrim/194/146/22 you'll see there's more occupancy there now than there was when the ticked was filled: It sure seem to be one of the ways to go about improving Mainland from individual user’s perspective.
